Rookie needs some help

Bullitt#829

I am brand new to this site and wanted to get as much help as possible. I have never detailed a car besides washing it and putting one coat of wax on it. I just bought my 2001 bullitt and I am pretty sure it has never been fully detailed and there are a few scratches and swirl marks I want to get rid of. I am going to fully detail my car as soon as I get a porter cable. The products I have right now.
Meguires soft gel soap
Poorboys SSR2
Clearkote Vanilla Moose
Poorboys Natty blue paste wax

I have a few questions. Can I screw anything up with the products I have? Is the SSR2 to rough to go straight to the Vanilla Moose or should I go with a SSR1 after that? I will definetly hit the car with a claybar right after washing it. Should I take the SSR2 to the whole car or just where scratches and swirl marks are? After applying the SSR2 how should I remove from the car also same with the Clearkote Vanilla Moose. I probably have the least experiance with detailing the exterior, so if you guys could help and give me a full detailed explanation, that would be awesome.

First welcome to the group:howdy

Second big fan of that car!

There are plenty of threads on this board for a full detail explanation but I will cover what you have...

The products you have are great, you didn't mention what you are using to polish the car with, a PC, Rotary, Flex etc...or what type of pads you had, if you are using a buffer at all. You can do it by hand, but be ready for an all day marathon and workout...

With out seeing pics its hard to determine the need for what, but using SSR2 followed by SSR1 is fine...you don't have to use SSR2 on the whole car if it doesn't need it but you will get a feel for it as you go...Always start with the least agressive polish and pad, especially as a beginner, you will find as you get more experienced you will be able to make that decision with just looking at the paint, but for now start with the SSR1 and see what that does to the swirls....You can go from SSR2 straight to your LSP, however you may find some light hazing or fine marks left from SSR2 that SSR1 willl remove.

To remove the Moose, or Nattys or even the polish use a good quality Micro Fiber Towel, just make sure to use a seperate one for each...

So...

Wash, then Clay, Polish, then Nattys Blue...and post some pics

Welcome to the site from Sonoma County CA

Stephan has started you off with some good questions...if you are getting a PC you are well on your way to getting the good results

man thats a nice ride...I like them better then the regular GT of that year which I owned ...I think it looks nicer without the rear spoiler...

Yeah I am going to buy a porter cable. I can't get any decent weather here in Virginia to do the job and also there is no where to wash with a hose and water here on base since I live in the barracks. Another thing that makes me mad is the pollen or whatever it is covers the whole car everday, so I am scared to spend all day cleaning the car and then it just gets covered in pollen or a bird craps on the car. I know detailing does more that just make the car look good.
