Rock Chips!!!!

What I do is:

Live with most of them; consider touching up a few large ones; get the area in question repainted if I have a lot of chips and they bother me that much.

yeah same here....touch in any bigger ones that may start to rust , live with the rest until its bad enough to repaint

As I've posted many times before, years ago I read a magazine article about a famous car museum (forget which one...) wherein the curator, asked about the chips on some valuable cars, said: "Real cars have stone chips".

its called no TAILGATING AND NO DRIVING ON MAJOR INTERSTATE HWYS LIKE GSP AND TURNPIKE.

You got that right homey!!!!! I'm a NJ boy too and driving any interstate (80, 287, 78), Garden State Parkway, or Turnpike in NJ is like parking your car in front of a kid with bb gun. Mine are so bad on my 98 Accord, I got a nose cover to hide them.

Amen brothers, NJ the sand blast state

i have plenty of them and as long as there are debris, rocks, dirt, etc.. on the roads, it's going to happen sooner or later...

If they bother you that bad, do a search for rock ships. There was a How-To thread on here a while back about touching up and wetsanding rockchips. Good luck!

Im proud of mine [stone chips]

My garage queens have stone chips too :( Just not as many. Heh heh, the two on the hood of the XJS ('85, ~17K) bugged my painter so much that he touched them up without asking me and I read him the riot act over it...they were, to me, a "feature", mementos of an otherwise great afternoon in August of '86. To him they were merely jump-out-at-you flaws that should've been fixed 20 years ago

The '84 RX-7, with only ~24K has a few chips and the pampered S8 has some *nasty* ones from a big rock that got tossed across several lanes by a school bus. If you drive 'em at *all* you risk such stuff, so I guess it's a question of how one defines "garage queen".

Heh heh, the S8 was a true garage queen, only coming out for special occasions...and onone of those rare occasions I deered it :o Of all the cars it had to be that one, but at least it wasn't the Jag. The stone chips weren't all that bad by comparison, a friend joked that replacing the front clip was a pretty radical way of fixing the chip on the hood :chuckle:
