RIP Mr. Spock

"Loss of life is to be mourned, but only if the life was wasted."

R.I.P.

Perhaps this is a matter of symantecs but I'm not sure that is how I see mourning. Without turning this into a religious topic, it is certainly true that one can mourn a life that isn't all it could have been, perhaps a wasted life. I see parents mourning the loss of an infant as something entirely different but still mourning.

This all said, even for those who believe there is something more, something better, something to be celebrated following this life. Grieving, missing or mourning a person simply because they are no longer in one's presence, if only for a season, this too is mourning. To mourn the loss of a loved one does not necessarliy indicate a wasted life. Just my .2 cents.
