RIP Evel Knievel

He was quite an icon in his heyday. I mentioned this to my wife and even she knew of Evil. This is sad but according to the link he was having health problems for quite some time. Now he can rest in peace.
 
:(Ahh man, he was one of my heroes when I was a little kid and I had all his toys. Just last weekend I watched Viva Knievel on Netflix.God speed Evel you will be missed.:(
 
Yea I recall as a teen he was THE MAN! every guy wanted to be like him...at least the ones I hung out with.....I remember when he wanted to jump the snake river
 
Wow, I didn't know he passed. We use to watch him all the time doing his next stunt. Back in the day when huge events were FREE....
 
Two things I really remember about Evel Knievel.

1. He crashed his brains out and broke nearly every bone in his body at one time or another and he still got back on that bike and did it again.

2. I head him interviewed once and he carried on an intelligent conversation for about 5 minutes, then his next words were, "Yeah, my next jump will be the Grand Canyon." Kind of blew the whole intelligence image with one sentence. :)
He couldn't get permission to jump the Grand Canyon so he substituted the Snake River Canyon. He didn't make it, but he did do a launch attempt. I never ever decided if he intended to jump the canyon or if the failure was actually planned. He was crazy, but he wasn't truly stupid. :D
