REview - Zymol Auto Wash

The Guz

Mike
With all this talk about Zymol lately I went ahead and picked some up at my local auto parts store in the local shopping center I get my hair cut at.

I haven't used Zymol in forever.

We are all familiar with the teal blue bottle it comes in.

The directions are a little lack luster. There is no mention about a dilution ratio.

One thing I noticed right away is that it is a thin consistency compared to the other soaps I typically use such as Meguiar's D110 Hyperwash. Almost like CarPro Reset. Zymol is teal blue in color. It smells great. I can definitely smell the coconut. Made it a joy to use it.

In regards to dilution I used about 2.5 ounces in 2 gallons of water. Here's the soap in the measuring cup I use.

Quick video of me dunking my finger into the measuring cup to show the consistency of the soap.

I used a stream of water to activate the suds. Good suds.

As I was setting up I said what the heck let me try it in a foam gun. I put 3 ounces in an Adams foam gun. Decent foam but it didn't stick too long. I could have used another ounce or two to get it to stick longer on the paint. Here's my dad's car all foamed up.

For my wash media I used a Lake Country wash wedge which I have a love hate relationship with.

All cleaned up and ready to go for the week.

There was still plenty of suds in the bucket after the wash. I took this after I had dried the car.

The thing I noticed about the Lake Country wash wedge is that after a handful of washes it's starting to delaminate from the handle. Other than that it's a good wash media for when the car is not that dirty. For me it doesn't work that well with contaminants that are a little stickier on the paint such as bee droppings. But for light dirt it's great. Thus the love hate relationship with it.

Overall a good soap. It does what it's supposed to do and that is to clean. It smells great. I would like it if it was a tad thicker.

Zymol Auto Wash 48 oz.

Nice review. I almost bought it to try out yesterday... chose to go with the Meguiar's DUB soap instead.

Good Review, Guz. And spot on with your soap dilution recommendation.

I have this soap as well and like Guz, was surprised by the lack of clear dilution ratio directions . All that labels says "add wash to bucket, fill with strong stream of water". Ok... how much soap per gallon of water pls?

Autopia's directions only call for 2 cap fulls in your wash bucket- which works out to 1/2 oz, and looks like a fair amount when hit with a strong stream of water, but is way to thin IMHO once you've filled the bucket with a decent amount of water to last the entire wash season:

In the above case ~3 gallons of water was added to my 5 gallon bucket.

Idk, a 4th review on the same soap < 10days might be overkill. Besides you hit most of the same points I was thinking about. Think I'll sit on this one for a while. Thanks again, Guz!
