Review: Zaino Bros': Z10, Leather In A Bottle

I am extremely finicky when it comes to leather care products. I prefer something with a nice smell, UV protection, and an OEM matte finish. I have tried many products and most of them meet a few of my criteria, but none of them meet them all. Then I tried Z10! When I first saw the bottle, it was a typical Zaino bottle, straight and to the point, not many frills. Then I opened it up and it really did smell like leather. Some of the other leather conditioners I have tested that have claimed to have a leather smell, I find the smell to be a bit too strong and seemed forced, not Z10. One reason I was interested in this product was due to the fact it contains "ULTRA-GARD (40) SUNSCREEN SHIELD". The conditioner applied with ease and instantly made the car smell newer. I applied the product with a white terry rag and left it to dry. The instructions said not to buff, but when I checked the leather a few hours later, it looked like it needed a good buffing. After a quick once over with a microfiber cloth, the seats looked awesome. Z10 left the seats with minimal sheen and slipperiness, they feel nice and softer, and the car smells better than ever. The leather conditioner did not clog the holes in the leather and spread smooth and easy. A little product does go a long way; therefore, a bottle should last awhile. For cleaning the leather before the conditioner, I used Zaino Z9 Leather Soft Spray Cleaner. It was a great cleaner and I recommend it before conditioning if your seats are soiled.

I give Z10 two thumbs up!

Nice Review Bolton. :xyxthumbs

Z10 looks like it did a great job, I especially like the fact it didn't clog the holes in the seats. :up

Great review!

Could you please keep an eye on the leather, and check for drying, cracking in a month or so. I think it was mentioned here a while back that there was a concern with premature drying with the Z10.

A follow up review would be appreciated.

Thanks bjwebster.

Cheers!

One day later and it still looks and feels great. I will keep an eye on it and update the thread as needed.

Great review!

I also use the Zaino leather care products. I used Z9 and Z10 on the Accord in December and the car still has the pleasant leather smell. The seats still look great with the exception of the driver's seat where small wrinkles are starting to appear. It's my fault because I haven't touched the leather in 3 months. I love both the products and will continue to use them.

Good review bjwebster.:xyxthumbs

Please follow the "drying effect" mention many times about Z10. I have been wanting to try this product because of the "real" leather fragrance but have been hesitant because of the reported adverse effects on the leather.

Great review. I've been using Z-10 for about a year and there are no drying issues.

Best leather conditioner I've ever used or seen.

Long-lasting, a beautiful satin finish, and that great real-leather smell.

no drying isssues here either Edwin. I love the stuff! This write up just triggered me to order some more! :)

Thanks Ali and Luster.

I value your opinions and reporting of experiences :bow. I will now break this hinderance and try another fine Zaino product.:xyxthumbs

Alboston, do you use this on your IS300, I am looking for something just a little better than Lexol for my IS300's black leather. I might check this out and possibly the Platinum leather.

I have been looking for something to protect the leather so the sun doesnt kill it with the top down. I am definitely going to give it a try.

Thanks for the info! :D

I use it on the ML leather. I also use it on the IS300 steering wheel and shift boot and it gives it a new look (not shiny). My IS300 does not have the leather seats, but i assume the leather on the steering wheel and shifter boot are the same as the seats would be. It is much better than lexol i can tell you that.

Just a few of my notes for people with uncoated leather (I have the nappa variety):

- Z9 seemed to be too harsh for it. It dried the leather out and make it feel coarse. It also removed dye from one of my shoes. Conditioning right after helped but I wish I hadn't cleaned with Z9 afterwards.

- Z10 can stain the leather if you don't rub it in equally, thinly, and thoroughly. Otherwise it agree that it works quite well.

I have now tried Z9 and Z10 on several leathers including nappa, all uncoated with no ill effects. I have kept an eye on everything and am still very pleased with the results.

I tried Z-10 for the first time today and am quite happy with the results.

I cleaned leather with Lexol cleaner and applied Z10 with terry applicator, it applies easily and a little product indeed goes a long way.

It left the seats rather dry to the touch and maybe a little too glossy to me but I'm used to matte finish 303 leaves and I probably should buff it like bjwebster did.

The smell is better from the bottle but I'm willing to give it more time as it seems to get more "leathery" with every hour.

The leather doesn't feel softer to the touch like it did after Lexol conditioner but it's BMW's Montana leather that is rather stiff so it is probably as soft as it gets now.

I plan to use Z10 maybe 2-3 times a year and continue with 303 on regular basis.

This is my first post so I hope I get it right, anyway I see a lot of discussion about leather care and no mention of the Leatherique products http://Leatherique.com/ I use their products regularly on the XJ6 and recently finished the restoration the interior of the Aston including changing the color from black to gray. Their resurrection oil is very popular on the Jaguar forum and I have found it has helped to keep my 15 year old XJ6 leather soft, and restore the 35 year old Aston's leather to almost new suppleness. no affiliation , just a happy customer.

Next step is to get the Aston ready for a Show in late June!

aston6,

I think many Autopians here know about Leatherique products and they have very good reviews but it seems the consensus is that they are used mostly in restoration projects. As a matter of fact I'm looking into getting their crack filler and dye to repair some damage to one of my cars.

The other problem is that the products can't be purchased locally like Lexol or 303 that I get at local retailers.

You mentioned that you're using Rejuvenator Oil as conditioner and I always thought that Prestine Clean was the product to use to clean and condition the leather on regular basis :nixweiss .

Welcome to Autopia!

I use the oil twice a year, once before the winter and sometime during the summer. The one problem with RO ( gotta love those autopian abbv.s) is that it needs time to work , overnight at least and since this is my wife's daily driver thats not always possible. I also use pristine clean and lexol between oilings.

Use the search feature, and you will find lots about leatherique, many threads and posts from me.

I use RO and PC and like theam alot. The problem I have with them is, RO is a pita to do, so i only do it once to twice a year, and I really dislike the smell of RO and PC. Another issue I have, is RO nor PC provide UV protection which the Zaino Z10 has.

The search I ran on leatherique had 6 pages of threads involving it.

I didn't drive the car on Sunday at all and when I opened the door this morning the smell was amazing, it truly smelled like leather!

I didn't buff the seats but it seems that as conditioner soaked in and dried for a day it got more natural, less glossy look that I experienced in the beginning.

This stuff really works as advertised so far. If you're not completely satisfied initially give it a day or 2 and you'll change your mind, I give Z10 2 thumbs up.
