Review: Zaino Bros': Z-18 ClayBar

I’ve been using Zaino products for over 3 years with excellent results. Their polish and car wash are so easy to use, with always excellent results. So I decided to give their Clay Bar a try. Big mistake!

I’ve tried quite a few different bars over the years including Clay Magic, Mothers and Griots, with Griots being my favorite so far. The Zaino bar fails in one major area, Flexibility! This bar just about has none, and is a real bear to try and fold. Don’t get me wrong, it does a great job claying, with not a hint of residue, but trying to fold this bar is not something that’s very fun.

Needless to say I won’t be buying the Zaino bar again.

I recently purchased the Autopia GLIDE, BLOCK & WAFFLE kit, and can't wait to try it soon.

I have noticed the same thing with Z18. I "warm it up" a little in the microwave before starting - maybe 10-15 seconds. That really helps the flexibility.

My input on this:

I haven't used anything else but Z18, so I can not compare.

But I do know that even Z18 may be hard to mold & fold it realy does a wonderfull job,and for me that is the only thing that counts.

You can soften the claybar by molding & folding it in a bucket of warm water + you clean off some picket-up debris.

I wish our Wal-Marts carried the same product as yours; I would love to try the Clay Magic.

Z-18 was terrible to work with, even compared to the Mothers I was used to.

Try contacting Clay Magic and ask if they have any sources in your area. I can (apparently) get the (massive) 200g bar locally for $38 I think.
