Restocking my clay without spending a fortune

I am in need of more clay for doing clay bar jobs, and still have tons of lubricant/QD spray.

Is there a place to get ONLY clay? Can I get some from a crafts supplies store or is it different?

Many thanks :)

Most online stores sell the clay seperately or you can also find a can of 3 small bars of Meguiars clay in many Auto Parts stores. Look in your local phone book for Detailing supplies or Auto Body shop supplies as they should also have the clay available individually.

Yeah it's different, poly clay is a sythetic product designed for Auto use, craft clay will not work. I think it was a good question though.

Yellow pages for paint and body supply store. Clay Magic seems to be most popular brand in larger sizes stocked there.

Worth a shot, right? :)

I haven't seen the 3-pack of clay but will definitely hit up some stores this week looking for it!

Anyone happen to have a catalog # on that? One of my club's sponsors is putting in a Meguiar's order this week and I can just tag it along with the rest of the order.

Clay magic is a god buy. It is alot harder than the mothers clay, more difficult to flatten, but i think it pics up more.

I picked up Mothers this time around because they were out of ClayMagic and I really wanted to get my car clayed. For the results, I think one did just as good as the other. I had to remove some heavy overspray (I painted my engine bay over the winter) this time around and the Mothers bar did a perfect job in a couple minutes worth of time. I can't complain about it :)

Try emailing this guy, ( [email protected] ) his clay was 9.95 per bar if you buy 5 but he ran out last time I ordered. Then he emailed me and told me he had it back in stock, but never posted it back on website. I had already ordered Zaino clay which is pretty cheap, 2 bars for 16 but the bars are smaller.

That's how much the Clay Magic kit with QD sells for locally. There's always some use for the excess QD.

If you are willing to try a new approach to clay, check my review of GLARE Liquiclay

The product works wonders, and for a full clay session it is faster and easier than the conventional clay bar. For spot claying a regular bar is a better bet, but for a full vehicle the liquiclay is unbeatable. I'll admit, I am guilty as I haven't updated the review, but let me tell you that applied by PC is even easier.

Downside? The only one is price. I can share the sample I have if you are interested.

Optimum Clay by Erazer. Grab em right now for $10 / 4 Oz bar! It's huge and you can get more. Bargain in my book.

I've just placed an order with ExcelDetail for Four Star Ultimate Detailing Clay (Fine Grade). It's 200g (I think that's 8oz) and it's only $19.99

Optimum's clay bar is my favoriate. It is very elastic. The yellow color make it easy to spot dirts. It come with nice packaging, hard plastic case. Good value.:up

I feel we all are getting taken by the outrageous prices on clay. In teh last 2 years,it seems to have tripled in price. Am I the only one feeling this way?

I remember paying $15 for the Mother's kit 4 or 5 years ago.. still seems to be about the same price in stores around here.

I just ordered that Optimum clay from Autogeek.
