residue question......

i get done detailing a car, and a few days after white powdery wax residue starts to appear, like i didnt get all the wax off or something
the day i do the detail it looks clean no residue no excess wax
as the wax cures something happens????
what cause this, the temperature, the wax........... i have no idea

Where are you seeing this residue? Is it a powder or is the panel coated with it? It could be that you are getting polish/wax dust in your rain channels while detailing and the dust gets out as you drive.

Could you tell us your process, the condition of your paint before, and any picks of the white substance.

I have had this happen with Poorboy's EX-P. I would apply it and buff it off and it sure looks like I got it all. Next day white residue on the paint that looked like I missed a bunch of spots and I know I didn't. Only happens with EX-P for me though. I no longer use it.

Happens to me once in a while too, especially with both Natty's products. Can't recall whether I've had the same prob with anything else.

this is after i detailed it.......looks fine.....then a day or so later in the middle of a panel for example the white powdery substance appears....just like you guys stated before with ex-p, it like the wax cures then light powdery haze appears.....i used the 3m show wax with meguires nxt wax, (may be this is just a bad combo)
??????? i think it must have something to do with the wax curing and the temperature, the temp that night was probably low 40's mid 30's.....
keep the opinions and comments coming and other experiences

This is not something that I have had occur with an LSP, but I do know that some products seem to have some quirky traits for me when the temperature is below 50 degrees.
It kind of sounds like cool/cold temperatures might be a common thing for all of you when you experience the problem.
Not much manufacturer relation between the 3M, Meguiar's, and Poorboy's. Even the two Poorboy's products are quite different aren't they? One being a sealant, the other a carnauba wax?

My problems with EX-P were in the summer. I use Insulator Wax in cold temps no problems. I applied a coat today and it was in the low to mid 30's or about 1 or 2 degrees Celsius.

I too have experienced the same problem of "magically appearing" wax residue. I thought I needed to get glasses.:no: I notice it on darker colors, especially ones that I have had to do some paint correction work to.

I mostly use Hi-Temp products and yes now that you have mentioned it Charles, temperature has been below 50 degrees. I always pull out of the shop for that last "walk around" before I deliver to the customer.

This is an excellant thread! Seems to be a topic people have some experience with.
