Residue on paint and glass

Well I have a new problem with my car. I noticed that on the outside of all the windows of my car, the headlights and tail lights, and the grill/mirrors/doorhandles (all of which were not re-painted), all have some sort of funky stuff on them. On the painted pieces, it almost looks like oxidation, however all the windows have some of this stuff on it too so I dunno if it's oxidation. And I did not have this on my car a couple of months ago when it went in to get repainted, so I doubt it's oxidation.

I tried using some cleaner wax on the mirrors and I did have some success, but I haven't had any success cleaning the glass or plastic headlights and taillights. I haven't tried cleaning the door handles or front grill yet.

~Couple of questions~

1. What the heck is this film? I don't think it's oxidation on my paint, none of this crap was on my car before it went into the shop to be re-painted.

Is this some sort of overspray?? Whatever it is, cleaner wax and alot of elbow grease did seem to help (but not completlely remove) the residue on my mirrors.

2. What can I do to remove this gunk off of the painted pieces?

3. What can i do to remove this gunk off of the glass?

Frustrated :(,

Adam

Sound like some type of overspray. Try claying the surfaces. If this does not work, you may want to try a cleaner polish using a PC. Last resort would be to take it back and have them correct the problem.

Oooohhhh no, it'll be a cold day in hell before I bring my car back to that place. The only way I'll go back there is with a can of gasoline in one hand and a match in another;)

Try 3M Tar, Adhesive & Wax Remover in an inconspicuous spot and see if that cleans it off. Try Klasse AIO. I find it to be an excellent paint cleaner.

For your head lights and tail lights I would try some clay and then AIO.

For the glass, besides the other 2 suggestions I made, you can try 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner. Also, gently try a single edge razor blade on the glass.

Also on glass, I have used non-acetone nail polish remover. It seems to just melt away many types of residues.

Whatever you do, test first in a small spot and see what happens.

I've heard nothing but good things about Klasse AIO, so I may give it a shot. How does it compare to Mother's cleaner wax, as far as paint cleaning?

After I apply AIO, and assuming it cleans the paint good, can I top that off with Z5?

Spilchy, I don't remember the other two suggestions you made for cleaning glass. Could you refresh my memory? Thanks a bunch:bigups
