removing water spots on windows

what is the best product to use to remove water spots on windows/windshield?

I've tried windex and other stuff but the water spots are sill there.

I would mix some water and distilled vingegar, and spray it onto a cool paint surface (not under the sun, too) Then try rinsing it off.

Since you already have Meguiar's 3-Step, you may want to try their cleaner.

Right on. If that doesn't work then you might have to go with the distilled vinegar by itself, not diluted with water.

If they are etched, you are basically SOL. Ron K covered this type of chemical process and what happens to them , and short of glass polishing with proper procedures, nothing liquid you throw at it will help. I had a customer that had a Ram Air Firebird WS -6 with this very concern, and tried all the usual remedies to no avail. She went to Pontiac, and they told her all they could do was replace the glass. If you do get rid of them, make sure you are cautious not to let it get out of control. Especially avoid places that pre-treat with hydroflouric acids ( car wash places ).And watch sprinklers with sulfer water. Down here in the south, this is a a real problem I see a LOT of.

Don't know how well this will work on todays windshields, but years ago, if we had an etch on our glass we would take a little toothpaste, and add a little table salt to it. Then take an old tee shirt, and put it over the end of our finger, with the mixture, and try and rub it out. Sometimes this was sucessful, and sometimes not.

As I said, I don't even know if this will work on todays glass, but you might give it a try if it looks like all other remedies have failed, and you have to replace the glass.

Remember table salt, because of it's fine grain, not Kosher salt, the grain is too big. It may take several apppliciations to do the job.

Who knows, maybe even wetting the cloth with the vinegar and water solution might help.

Just an old thought, so let us know if this tip might help. Enjoy!

use the water-vinigar approach first. If that doesn't work (and asumong you don't have after market windo tint) use a little chrome polish. Chrome polish works wonders on glass...even some manufacturers of glass polish just rebottle their chrome polish. -Brad
