Removing sticker from Solar-Ray glass

My car has Solar-Ray glass, which is basically a film in the glass that blocks UV and a fair amount of radiant heat. I also live in Virginia and have to put an annual inspection sticker inside my front windshield. I would like to remove this sticker myself before the shop razor-blades the crap out of it (it's time for my inspection again). Does anyone know if a razor will harm the film? My owners manual suggests not to use a razor on the front or rear windshield, but it is as it relates to damaging the defroster or antennaes. The front has an AM diversity antennae in it (only way at the top). I thought I'd heard you shouldn't use a razor on the Solar-Ray, but that could be my mistake, or just one of those rumors.

So, anyone have a gentle procedure for removing stickers from glass? And does anyone have specific info about Solar-Ray glass? I'm gonna check to see if I can find any info on PPG's website. Thanks a lot!

I dont know about Solar-Ray glass, but if it is a film, I would stay away from razors.

There are various ways of removing stickers from glass, perhaps the best way is to gently heat with a hair dryer and peel off, clean the area with alcohol and finish with a glass cleaner.

all GM's have this PPG solar-ray, you don't have any coating per-se on the windows. Its actually wedged between two layers of actual glass, and you can't harm it easilly. If you're trying to remove the sticker however, I would recommend using a hair dryer to heat the adhesive, making it (hopefully) easier to remove without a razor blade. You might even consider then using the edge of a credit card to get an edge up, then just peel.

Thanks! I thought it was sandwiched, but wasn't sure. I don't remember where I heard the razor admonition. I checked PPG's site, but it wasn't too helpful. I'll try the hairdryer!
