removing polymer sealants?

How would I go about removing Zaino from my car? I've heard everything to "ABC" wash to a mild solution of alcohol.

You will probably need to do some sort of prep. Be it a paint cleanser, mild polish and SMR or all 3 . Any of this steps, as mentioned earlier, will remove Zaino, all sealants, carnuaba, Future Floor Wax ;), etc.

If you only plan to clay you might add some isopropyl alcohol to the lube QD ( half alcohol / half QD ) and that will remove Zaino also.

I would use isopropyl(rubbing) alcohol, 3M SMR (or equivalent) or something like PPCL, depending on why I was removing the sealant.

What is the ABC wash I've heard of? Also, when your saying polish you don't mean something like Meguiars do you? As you can all tell I don't know alot about detailing lol:nixweiss

Have you done a search on "remov* + Zaino"? I know I've seen threads on this before. (In fact, I've printed them, and they're in the files upstairs.) I think I recall something about 50/50 alcohol. Do a search, or e-mail Zaino.

Megiuar's makes a consumer line of cleaners and polishes - Meg #1(cleaner) and meg #2 ( polish). Easy to work with by hand or buffer. They have a professional line product that can also be found locally at auto paint store called Swirl Remover 2.0 but this is hard to work with, especially by hand if not experienced, and is very mild ( will remove Zaino) but nothing but minor surface imperfection.

Mother also has a Swirl Remover (SMR) and pre-wax cleaner that will remove Zaino. Found locally

My favorite SMR is 3M Prefect-It III Machine Glaze (SMR) but as the name states requires a buffer for optimal results.

I would start with the meguiar's or mother's products since they are very forgiving and not too difficult to work with by hand to remove your Zaino and as you learn more here you will alter this routine in the future with more complex products and techniques. I personally did not realize I was a newbie to ultra-detailing until I spend several months here. So therefore, you are advancing the learning curve faster than I did.

I suggest you down-load the "free" chapters of DavidB's e-book. I still think it's free:nixweiss. There is a wonderful chapter about polishing.

ahunt01,

We are all here to learn and if anyone tells you they know everything about detailing they are either falling behind in this ever change skill or they're lying. :wavey

I think I got kind of an idea what to do, I'll try reading up on some other articles too. Gotta love this message board:D Thanks for all the help everyone:bow
