Removing painted pin stripe

This was a challenge,customer wanted me to remove his painted on pin stripe. as you can see it was a mess. had to dissolve the pin stripe without harming the exsisting paint. once I did that, it was time to wet sand, and buff.

Buffing a job like this requires skill, by this time, the clear coat is getting thin, so I had to be careful not to burn through it. One thing I learned from this experience, I don't charge enough for my work.

Next time try some Easy Off oven cleaner. It really works well. I have used it to remove painted business logos from trucks.
 
Guess what, I was using easy off, still took me 4 hours. I thought for sure I would of gone through the clear coat. I surprised myself on this one. I think next time I will send them to a body shop. For me this is NOT worth the trouble. Gary
 
I sure hope you don't run into paint problems at some point in time during a job by using that stuff. Lots of products can perform tasks they weren't intended for but a risk can be involved. I'd always err on the side of caution.
