Removing paint overspray

One of my clients asked me to remove paint overspray on two vehicles that I detail regularly. Apparently, he parked both his Ford (Harley) Pick-up and his Denali against the side of a building that was being spray painted by a couple of knuckleheads. The paint is oil based and is not visible but can definately be felt to the touch. Both vehicles have 3 coats of SG on them. I've clayed many vehicles with some minor overspray on them but these 2 feel like sandpaper all over......What would be my best and easiest plan of attack?.....I'm thinking.....1. Claying 2.AIO . 3 SG Do you think I'll need a more abrasive polish added???? :bow Thanks, Terry

Terry, Meguiar's produces a couple of different grades of clay. If you are not having good results, you could try their aggressive clay. It will require more finishing work later on.

Thanks guys, as I said the overspray isn't visible & thank god I have the paint protected pretty well with SG. I've always had the best results with Mothers clay but if it isn't aggressive enough I'll step it up to the Claymagic red....I've always used 3M, Zaino & Mothers clay. Sheesh...... more weapons to try.:xyxthumbs

Terry,

I recently took care of a VW Jetta and used Goof Off in a spray can. I simply applied a small amount on a cloth and treated the affected areas. Within a minute or two it softened the over spray and it was easily removed. I followed up with an application of Meguiar's Cleaner Wax and then a coat of Polymer Sealant. One note: stay away from plastic parts as the solvent in Goof Off could attack the plastic. Also be sure to wear rubber gloves too. Other than that it really makes easy work of removing most paint over spray.
