Removing Klasse SG

So i did a detail on my car last week and i sealed with klasse aio. I was tight on time so i didnt get a chance to put on the sealant glaze that day. I did a good wash today and then pulled her in the garage and applied SG via pc and a green edge pad.

This stuff was a big pain to take off. I went from front to back when applying and same for removing. the dry time was probably 20 minutes. Then i busted out some Z6 to help me out and it did great, but my bottle was already really low. So i took the remaining z6 and just filled the bottle with water and continued to spray and wipe.

Now my paint does not feel very slick and as far as the shine goes ill wait till i see in good light.

Could the water and z6 mix (mostly water) have had a bad affect on the aio and sg layers?

For future reference, what do you all recommend i do when removing sg?

it is normal. The layer was probably too thick, SG works best by hand IME. I don't use SG anymore, there are so many easier to use products, like Wolfgang sealant or UPP. AIO is a great product though.

SG is kind of a pain to remove but once you get it right it works pretty well. I used to use it a lot and I had a spray bottle that I filled with water and mixed in 2 capfulls of SG. Once the sealant dried on the car I sprayed each panel with the water mixture and buffed it off easily.

I thought the green pad was a med cut pad...why would you use that for a LSP?

IMO SG is best applyed by hand and if you can see it you are using to much!

cause its all i had.

i finished removing it just now. im hoping it will at least be good for protection. ill leave the looks and the sleek feeling up to the s100 which from what ive seen is really what its meant for.

o man, s100 is amazing. its like butter going on and coming off. the slickness and the shine are sick. it looks real good on top of the SG and aio.

Even though I do most LSP on/off via machine, with KSG I simply can't get the correct thin application by machine, so that's one that even *I* do by hand. Pretty hard to exagerrate how little you oughta use...I use *far* less than an ounce to do our minivan.

I fog the surface with my breath when buffing it off, and as long as it's on there nice and thin it comes off easily. I do like to let it set up for a good long time though, seems to come off even easier the longer I wait (sometimes overnight or even a day or so if I'm busy with other stuff).

Yeah, SG works better when applied and removed by hand! It takes very little to get the job done. You could wet the microfiber a bit to help remove it if you need to, but you will usually have to go back oover it with another microfiber to buff it back out.

I never understood why you would put on a sealant with a machine in the first place? It is just supposed to be spread out thin and evenly.

do u know how evenly and thinly u can spread sealant with a machine? it makes it really easy and quick. Especially with how lubricated SG is. Like someone else said, a lot of it ends up on the floor.

Heh heh, in my case, the answer is "not very" :grinno: No matter how I try, I simply can't get it as thin by machine as I can by hand :nixweiss

.. a lot of it ends up on the floor.

Huh?!? You lost me there...how can it end up on the floor unless you knock the bottle over and spill it (BTDT) ?

Yeah, I usually carry around the bottle with me when I apply very small dabs to the moist applicator. Being really runny in nature, and not in a round bottle, I usually look down and find a small puddle on my shoe after my ADHD has kicked in.

Even after multiple spills and a couple of years of use I still have around half of a container of this stuff. Great value.

Yeah, even with all the layers I apply, I have maybe 1/3 of a bottle left after eight years and a few spills.

Been using it on my own car lately, and love the look and slickness. No problem with removing, just no sun and very thin. And Accumulator, it is on a red Audi, I know you have an Audi correct?

BAKER- Yeah, my wife and I have a matched pair: '00 A8 and '01 S8, both silver.

For some reason I just *HATE* how KSG looks on Audi silver :nixweiss I use it on other silvers and think it looks great, but I was so unhappy with it on an Audi that I actually stripped it off and used something else (and I'm sure not one to take off a perfectly good LSP).

Like Accumulator, I can't get it on very thinly with a machine. I have more control using only my hand and a foam pad.
