removing excess body panel adhesive

Ok, got another unusual question

anyone ever remove excess body panel adhesive?

I was using Lord Fusor 125 to mount my rear spoiler, temporarily at least, so that I would be able to drill from under the trunk up into the spoiler, instead of drill into the spoiler and trunk and aligning both sets of holes. Sounds like a good idea.

Anyways the Lord Fusor directions say it sets in 5 mins.

So after 10 mins of setting I take my hands off the spoiler, and do to get the drill. After I turn away the spoiler slides off! DOH!

:angry:shocked:wall

long story short, the spoiler is mounted fine and very secure, but I have some smeared adhesive on the face of the trunk right under the spoiler (which sits flush on the trunk, no legs, it's like a lip actually, this is on a Lexus SC300)

I haven't been able to figure out what to do about it

aside from gently wet sanding it.

worst case scenario, I sand it down and paint that section, but blending in the paint with the rest of the car's aged paint will be a PITA.

But if anyone has any ideas, please chime in

thanks
