Removing Crayon from Lexus leather seats

I've been using Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo to wash my Tahoe with great results. However, I don't have a garage anymore so I have to wash my truck much more often now and the Pinnacle is proving to be a little too expensive for me. Does anyone have any recommendations that are a little lower down the pricing scale? I was thinking of trying the EF Power wash as I have had excellent success with EF products, but I am worried it may be a little too harsh. I hate to switch products, but I am running out of beer money :D

Right On. For an economical and good quality wash Meguiars Gold Class is the way to go. You can get a gallon for $9.99 at your local Target. :up

Gold class is great whenyou get it in the gallon jug.

I prefer Zaino wash though and use t for my truck but I use the Gold Class on the GF and others. I am selfish with my good stuff.

Eimann Fabrik PowerWash+ is a wonderful wash. Powerful on dirt, yet does not seem harsh. Great lubricity. It's available form CMA.

Zaino Car Wash work well. EF Power Wash also does a excellant job and if you buy it buy the gallon it's a good value.

I've been using 3M's Car Wash Shampoo. It is $20 a gallon and to me it cleans really well and is designed not to strip off wax. I found the gallon sizes at my local FinishMaster store.

My favorite wash is the Pinnacle shampoo. A close 2nd is P21s and Zaino's. My 3rd place vote goes to the Meguiar's Gold class wash. The best value certainly has to go to the Meguiar one. Highly recommend it. Laters

Hey Guys,

I had a friend ask me about removing Crayon from the leathers seats of his Lexus ES350 and honestly, I can't remember having to remove Crayon from a leather seat before. Since I don't have the car at my disposal to try any of my products I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this before? Something he can get OTC would be nice but I definitely don't want to recommend something that could possibly remove the dye either.

Thanks,
Rasky

I have never removed crayon from leather, but since crayon is sort of oil/wax based, I would think that an APC 1:10 should work.

crayon can be a PITA to remove. I've dealt with melted crayon on on cloth seats and drawn on leather seats both before. He needs to find a strong enough cleaner to remove the crayon but wont damage the seats. Trust me especially with Lexus cars its a real fine line. I used a product made by Hi-Temp, it was initially for engine bay detailing but when thinned down to 20-1 it works remarkable well to lift bad stains/crayons/etc..

Use a heatgun to warm up the surface and wipe as much off as possile with an old sock or something you won't be needing anymore. At that point, I believe Bryan was right on target with the APC. If that doesn't seem to budge it try laquer thinner

Depending upon how long this crayon you speak of has been sitting there, more then likely there will still be a visable stain even after you have removed it all. If so, then yank the seat out, get some newspaper and cut out an area the size of the stain and spray

Hope this helps Chad :)

Thanks guys! I gave him some direction and we'll see what he comes back with. I did mention that the coating was rather delicate.

That method works too and sometimes when there is a problem when removing, then try these methods I learn many many moons ago..........
you can try this but be very careful not to burn your leather. Take an iron and a clean paper towel and lay the paper towel over the crayon and with it on low heat rub the iron over the paper towel over the crayon. The crayon will melt into the paper towel, move the towel around to clean spots until the crayon is gone, a little bit of rubbing alcohol should remove the remaining. If they're just marks on the leather seat a little soap and water should do the trick or even a little rubbing alcohol on a towel works good to. I have also use the APC way but the way leather is been made one has to test it to see if that works also. Anyone else with a idea that work for them? I would like also to see more ways to do it without damaging the leather.
