Removing a PITA Scuff...Scratch?? ) With Pics

Hello, I recently bought a PC to help keep my daily driver looking better and my garaged car looking brand new. I came across this scratch/scuff on my garaged car that I can't seem to remove. It kinda looks like a scuff, but then again a scratch. If I run my fingernail over it, it seems as if it is on top of the clear coat and should come off. I'm not sure what to do. Any help/suggestions would be great.

UH OH...i see swirls!!



Do you have any polish yet? I would try an orange (light cutting) pad and some menzerna ip. But then again i use that for everything. You should be able to get rid of that fairly easily (if it's just a superficial scuff or scratch).
 
I have some of the Sonus SFX-1, 2 and 3 stages of compound and polish. I know it has swirls, :) I havent taken it out of the garage to give it its first PC polish. :) Thanks for the suggestion.
 
Just tried the PC on it, no luck. :(

First I cleaned the area really well, the I tried SFX-1 with yellow SFX Foam pad, followd by SFX-2 ( SFX white pad), and SFX-3 (SFX blue pad). Maybe I need better pads, stronger compound I dunno. I made a few passes with medium pressure it seems to lessen the flaw a little, but it is still there. This is my second time using my PC so I'm still learning.
 
When I first started using the PC, I was moving WAY too fast to do any reparing of the paint. I learned how to really get good results after doing a few vehicles. Just use really nice, slow, overlapping passes if you're not already. If it's not catching your nail, you're right, it looks like it should come right off. I'd hit it again with the white pad and go slow with a little more pressure. If that doesn't do it, try again with the yellow, then to the white.



Edit: I don't know anything about the SFX stuff, as I'm pretty limited in the compounds and polishes I've used, but could you go to the SFX-1 with white pad first? Seems the heavier compound with lighter pad could yeild close to the same results without having to get too deep into the scratch. Then if that doesn't work, bump it up to the yellow pad.

I think you're going to have to be very detemined to correct this one with the PC. It looks like the sort of thing I'd pull out the rotary to attempt, but I realize not everyone has that option. Plan on spending some time on this one and strongly consider getting a smaller backing plate and a couple 4" pads to use on the PC to attack stuff like this, it's much more aggressive.
