hey guys,

i have a blue navy Honda Accord, I'm having a little hard time removing some light scratches and swirls, I got few products from autogeek, including meg 105/205, Menzerna Micro Polish PO 87M, I'm using Lake Country white pad, after few mins using a machine polisher, this is the 50/50 i got, not exactly what i was hoping. I was thinking if any of you guys can give me some pointers, maybe get meg 83 with hydro tech LC cyan cutting pad. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Those scratches look fairly deep, can you feel them with your finger nail?

actually no, a little bit on one of them, the rest no, even if it doesn't remove it completely, I'd still be satisfied if it takes off some of it. To be honest, the swirls weren't completely removed on that side either. I don't know if the combo i'm using is strong enough even though my paint is fairly soft.

I'm probably not the one to give advice but that doesn't seem to stop me (or many on internet forums ;) ) The white pad is a very mild polishing pad no? Stepping up to the orange or tangerine hydro pads would probably be a step in the right direction.

A few more questions to help the real pros help you?

What machine are you using? and what speed?

What diameter pad is that white one?

yeah the white pad is mild polishing one, since my car is a Honda, i didn't want to take chances without knowing how this pad would work.

i'm using griots random orbital polisher- i started with 3, then 5 and a little bit of 6, but mostly between 4-5

the pad is 6' one

Those 6 inch white pads are where I started (with a MINI and an Acura so about the same hardness of paint). A smaller pad and/or a more aggressive pad is what had been recommended to me when I was trying to get better results. Always go from least aggressive to more but go up a notch at a time until you get the results you want. Don't think you need any polishes beyond what you have. 105 with a 5/5 inch cyan would be a good next step probably.

okay, thanks, i was a little bit worried to use the 105 one, i'd pick up the cyan cutting pad, i think they have the hydro tech cutting cyan pad but its 6.5.

the online store where i'm purchasing this only has the 5'5 green polishing pad or yellow compounding pad.

The cyan is 2 steps up so the 6.5 might be ok. Haven't tried but heard good things about the uber pads Phil has over at detailer's domain. That's probably what I'd get if I needed to fill a hole now.

I never used those. I found some Hex Logic yellow pad, i heard some good things about those as well. Are those similiar to the uber ones?
