Which red do you like better? I always liked metallic reds, and my Corvette was a dark metallic red. I was actually looking for a solid bright red but found that car.

I think I'll just keep an eye out for both and get one that is in great shape at the right price, etc. But I can't decide which I really like better. Metallic reds really have a pop and look so sweet in most lighting. But then solid reds can look so freaking deep under the right circumstances. Bright red doesn't look right on a lot of cars, but a Corvette sure looks right in it.

So which one:

As an aside, the dark metallic red is much more rare, but then I don't know that it makes it a collectible plus. I mean, bright red isn't rare because it is desirable... :)

oh my bad....i see the vettes now.

why a C4?? I'm not a big fan of the c4's anymore..they look too dated.

with C5's selling at such a bargain now, go get one. oh yeah, and bright red....its a sports car, not a caddy (or olds!!!)

:nono I love the C4 because it looks dated. It looks like 80's muscle. I love that!! I think 1990 was the penultimate in looks for the Corvette, at least as far as ones I would own. I appreciate the style of the 50's and 60's for sure, but can't see owning one. And the new C6 looks nice again.

I second that. GM's red always has an orange tint to it. The metallic red is a sweet color. :wavey

I've thought that too about the newer cars. But if you look at a Bright Red from the 80's through 1992, they are a very red red, even slightly dark. It's much redder than the later C5's. In fact, the Callaway I went to look at was a Bright Red, and the guy replaced it with a 2003 red Z06. The difference in redness was very apparent. The Z06 was an orangish red and the B2K was darker and very red.

I love red on a 1969 Ferrari 365 Daytona or late '80s Testarossa, and maybe a few classic Alfa Romeos!

For me, a C4 looks perfect in black or dark blue:cool: I think a C5 also looks great in yellow. (for what it's worth:o )

Metallic...

Solid Red is almost as hard as black to take care off. You see EVERY defect. Plus, the metallic looks like a candy apple from here...yum

Great choice Bob, looking forward to seeing more pics. What year is it, any more details? I used to drop by Roger's Corvette in Orlando on a regular basis. I do agree with you on the '80s look, I also like the C4 body style. One of these days I hope to have a 1996 Yellow 'vert or Silver Collector's Edition 'vert similar to the pic below in the garage next to the Mustang.

Have fun with the new toy :xyxthumbs

Hey Bob, it's a 1990 bright red with a red interior. It has 21,600 miles on it and is in excellent condition. I wanted a car with a few miles that had been driven regularly, and also one in near-mint condition. This car was really impeccible and was a blast to drive home.

I want to change the fluids, give it a detailing once-over (even though it's pretty great), and I have to get it emissions inspected before I can register it. So I won't be driving it for about a week or so, but man is it great to look out in the garage and see it!!

I have a nice poster in my garage with a 1996 Collectors Edition convertible sitting in a desert with a heat-mirage reflection of a 1959 Stingray racer. It's really great!

Here are a couple more shots of the car at the previous owner's place:

Edit: and I have the original wheels (and original Goodyear Gatorbacks on the front wheels). The tires are still in decent shape. I need to pull the backs and check the manufacture date (the fronts are 4 years old, the backs are older). I'll probably get Eagle F1 Supercars in about a year, as even that short treadlife will last me close to 10 years, and I've no intention of ever driving it in rain.

Solid red, all the way. When comparing a well prepped and waxed vehicle, solid red will always stand out more than just about any color out there, including black.:)

Solid, bright red looks amazing but requires much more upkeep than the metallic. Personally I would take the extra time in keeping the paint perfect and go with the solid red. Porsche Guards Red color, oh yeah, makes the metallic look crappy IMO.

My absolute favorite color on any car I've ever seen is Magnetic Red on the C5/C6. That color is stunning, IMO. I also liked the Laser Red on my 1998 Mustang GT.
