Red Ink on Leather Seats

What's the best way to remove red ink from my light tan leather seats in a Corvette?

I've already tried Meguiars leather cleaner and a soft brush. That lightened it a little but didn't remove it.

Any suggestions?

Take a water based all purpose cleaner, dillute it 10:1, spray it on a cotton cloth, slightly agitate it, then blot the leather with the saturated rag, (keep it wet) wipe, and repeat as many times as needed.. Finally condition the leather

Maybe I was lucky but bug and tar remover completely took black ink off my wifes new car, also light colored leather, when a pen melted down last summer- no discoloration to the leather.

I did three applications, one very quickly, on the second try I let it sit for a few seconds, and on the third a bit longer.

Good luck, I hope you find something that works.

If none of the above work, try some alcohol in an inconspicuous place. If it doesn't harm the leather, the give it a try. I can usually get rid of even "permanent" inks with alcohol. There is actually enough alcohol in hair spray to use it for ink removal. This can be handy when you aren't at home ;)

Disclaimer: I have never used alcohol on upholstery leather.

I've used anhydrous isopropyl alcohol on ballpoint ink on my Lexus leather (Ivory). No problems. I just conditioned liberally after the alcohol. Can't tell where the ink was.

If you use hairspary, check the contents on the can. Make sure it has alcohol in it.

I bought the Spinneybeck Leather Kit from leatherz.com and it comes with an ink remover that works great. The leather cleaner and conditioner that come with it are top notch. Produced by the leather tanner for BMW and Mercedes.
