Red 1997 Mustang Cobra - Swirled and Oxidized

This is my buddy's car. It is kept outside 24/7, and with all of the construction going on at his house thanks to the hurricanes, it's hard to keep it clean. He helped me out with the whole detail, and I love the color of this paint, so I enjoyed it.

It was last polished ~5 months ago, had a decent amount of swirls, and the horizontal panels (hood, roof, trunk, front + rear bumpers) had a moderate amount of oxidation.

The car was also clayed a few months ago, so I felt that it didn't need it.

We started out with an NXT wash, dried it, pulled it into the garage and got to work.

I used Poorboy's SSR2.5 with a polishing pad on my PC set at 5-6. This didn't haze the paint at all, and left a beautiful swirl-free finish. Finished with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant w/a finishing pad. The tires got Poorboy's Bold 'N Bright.

Here is the rear bumper half-polished.

And the front bumper half polished...

And now the finished product....I know the wheelwells are dirty -- he mainly just wanted me to fix up his paint.

Enjoy!

NICE turnout! I love red cars and that is one hell of a job. I know all to well what the Florida sun can do to a red car if not kept up with.

Great job on the red paint those can be hard ot do. Next time clean the wheel wells and dress them that would have finished the car up

Looks good. You and he need to do something with that wiper cowl however. I see some wax on it. And if it were dressed it would make a huge difference in the overall appearance. The paint looks great!!

Looks nice! Why's he running different tires front rear, and whats up with the crease in the top of the rear bumper?

Other than that, SWEET ride :bigups

Are you talking about the gap between the 2 panels, or the clearcoat failure in the crease?

Front tires are Falken Azenis, rears are Nitto 555R II's (stickier).

In the crease... I thought it was CC failure, but I wanted to ask. The tires make sense, the rears can benefit from a little extra stick...especially with the Cobra's output.

Good job..but that stang has got to be lowered...It looks like a truck..
I don't know why Ford has always made the Ford Mustang with such an ugly look when it came to springs.

Not your buddies fault..Ford is just to cheap to put on the right springs on these cars..
But FRPP (Ford Racing Performance Parts) have C rate a B rate springs filling the aftremarket..I guess that's where they make there money..
And don't ask to see the stock headers on these things...they're disgusting..just a shame...

Yeah I always tease him about his lifted truck :P

He's going with coilovers in the future though.
