recommend me a "Gunk" alternative

First let me say this is NOT a request for a cleaning product for my car's engine, but for a product along those lines to use on my motorcycle. I clean my bike in the following manner........spray down all greasy parts of the bike with a cleaning solution that loosens grease, then after letting it sit for a few minutes hose it off.

That said, i have tried gunk and simple green. they both worked ok but i worry about gunk on some parts, and simple green has already proven itself damaging to some clear coatings on my particular bike. It will be getting into the brakes and a lot more, so i need something VERY safe. A product i can use like this which will not hurt any finish or plastic, rubber, etc, and will do a great job of melting away grease so it can be hosed off. Please recommend only products i can find locally, as i am doing this today. In order to be at a bike show early tomorrow.

I've tried a few spray-on-rinse-off degreasers, but gave up on them. It's hard to use them around the chain, which is where you need them most, without degreasing the chain.

Nowadays, I just use kerosene and blue shop towels to clean the grimy bits.

For degreasing areas where you want more control or don't want to rinse, try brake cleaner. It requires no rinsing and leaves no residue when it dries. If the grease is heavy, you might have to use a lot. I've used it to clean a thin film of grease off of parts and it works well.

Note (disclaimer): I've never used either of these products but have seen pics from users and nearly unanimous praise for the two products...

CD2 engine detailer, which is apparently pretty difficult to get.

Secondly, DP engine degreaser from Autogeek.

what about a citrus based degreaser from a local auto store.

It won't be as powerful as the other stuff, but it also shouldnt damage any seals, etc
