Hey guys, my name is Ajay and im fairly new on here.

I registered a while ago and have been browsing/educating myself but havent been posting much.

Anyways i have been detailing for about 3 years now both for work and pleasure.

I work on all sorts of cars. from Honda's to Ferrari's.

The only machine i have really every used is my Makita 9227c with 7" pads (mostly foam).

But now its time to replace it and i would love to see what you professional think i should get next.

I have been looking into the new 3D polisher but there arent very many reviews out there yet.

Also i see alot of people using 4" pads. what are some of the pros and cons of using a smaller pad?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

The new Dewalt is excellent. Actually all the Dewalt polishers are excellent. Great power, and they have some weight behind them so it doesn't wander too much when you're polishing.

@Johnkleven-i have heard good things about dewalt product but dont know anyone who uses one. which model do you use?

@whytewizard-the hitachi seems like a very interesting product. Its about the same weight as my makita. Anyone else use this?

@Accumulator-im replacing my makita because after 3 years of everyday use it is now starting to get tired and old. It still works and it has served me very well for 3 years but i think its time for me to try another machine. Something different and maybe and quieter?

It's lighter, more powerful and hold speed wonderfully.

I have been looking into the new flex rotary and i kinda like it. :p

but does anyone know of any stores that sell them in british columbia or washington state?

i think i want to see it in person and hold it first before i buy it.

^ Ive heard that Makita is one of the quieter ones around. Reviews seems to say that Flex P14 is just as loud as a makita.

I am in the market for a new rotary as well (currently own/use a Flex 3401 DA and cheap HF rotary) and I am heavily leaning toward the Dewalt 849x (make sure it is the "x" model). I have non-scientifically tested both the Makita 9227c, Dewalt 849x, and the Flex PE14-2. IMO, Dewalt got it right with the new 849x - tons of excess power, great balance, solid build, availability of low speeds, and a price that will not break the bank.

I will have to look into the Hitachi as well...i am all for options.
