Recently Took The Plunge, Full Time Detailer

Hello,

My name is Sam Harrington, I have always detailed my own family vehicles and it never really struck me until one day at a factory job I thought,"hey, I can make a decent living doing something I might enjoy!". Well the thought was much more simple than the process has been! I love every minute of it though. Several months ago starting out I was really flying by the seat of my pants. Never used polishes or compounds or sealants or any thing of that nature until I went full time. Luckily I think I am naturally talented (or just blessed with the gift of OCD & A LOT OF PATIENCE). Is it normal that I find myself getting to deeply into a certain section of a detail? I think that if I let myself, I could spend days detailing a Nissan Sentra. So I guess the biggest challenge for me is knowing when to stop! Look forward to Learning a lot from you guys, and maybe in the future being able to teach y'all a thing or two!

Good luck in your new endeavor, but you should really sit down and get a business plan down on paper...That's the road map for the business.

You also need to work on the process flow, a decent detail depending on the condition should not be taking all day. I can do most any car in 4 to 7 hours depending on size and condition. Start reading the threads on this site and learn
 
Welcome to AF and good luck. Beemerboy is right. Read, learn, and do your homework on not only detailing, but the business aspect as well. Ive said it before, but I wish I had taken some business classes before I got to the point that I cant. It would have saved me a lot of trouble later down the road.
