Hello to all,

Newbie to forum here. Found this site today and was glad to find a place where others (like myself) have the same obsession with clean, shiny cars. I'm new to detailing and have just started cleaning cars for $$$. Any recommendations and/or constructive criticism will be much appreciated. Hope you like the pics!

Thanks.

Bill

very nice. :)

maybe you should suggest to the owner of the convert' that he/she might want to take care of the rust on the brake rotor. it kinda took away from the shiney rim and tire. other than that, really nice!

and yeah, what products did you use?

Welcome to Autopia!

Vette's look great. That one hood shot looks verrry wet!

Which products did you use?

All rotors will look rusted when they get wet. A trip around the block will fix it.

Those cars look great, but posting here requires telling your products and procedure ;) :D

Sorry for not posting product and procedure. In my attempt to post pics I must have forgotten. Anyway, here ya go:

1) 2:1 water to "red hot" solution from car brite, sprayed entire car then rinsed

2) Rims done with Meguiars Hot Rims cleaner (Also used the red hot)

3) washed with Meguiars NXT car wash

4) first polished with "sleek" from car brite

5) buffed off with dewalt buffer

6) second polish with Meguiar's polish

7) waxed car with car brite wax

8) windows done with Stoner Invisible glass

9) tires done with Black magic tire shine

Rag top was in good shape so didn't bother with it. I think that's it. Thanks for the feedback all, I really appreciate it!

Hey GSRstilez, what part of Long Island you from?

I was referring to the center section of the brake rotor, I'm not sure of the name, brake hub? i just thought it took away from the whole cleanliness and shine of the wheels and rims. :p

but yeah, nice job. :xyxthumbs

Just used the hand polish. Paint was in good shape and didn't need to use anything too aggressive. I agree with the fender wells needing to be darker and the rust on the rotor or wheel hub whatever, did bother me a bit but the rest came out nice so I just said screw it. Thanks for all the compilments and feedback! Looking forward to seeing some of everyone else's work :D

Yes, the hub of the rotor can either be: painted or the owner can replace the brakes with zinc/cadmium plated rotors which will not rust like that.

Some constructive criticism - if you're doing this for other people now, just remember that some people can be very specific about making any kinds of marks (even temporary) in their driveways/right in front of them (like the tire dressing overspray in the first pic). You might not run into someone like that, but I've got a few people who I have to be careful about even dripping stuff with. I don't use the spray tire dressing anymore so it's not so much of a problem. You might want to look at using a gel-type dressing and tire swipes - you don't have to worry about overspray onto the paint/trim or surface that you're working on.

By the way, those Vetes look awesome. Great job!
