Recent Detail vs. My Cobra has a new roommate...

03COBRA

I miss my 03 Cobra......
Well I have been geting the itch to get a bike lately. Personal want, gas prices, and almost all of my friends have one now. So I finally broke down and got one the other day. Brand new 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 600. Very nice bike. Best of all, I put 2 gallons of gas in when I got it, gas light just came on at 49 miles. Which means I get roughly 50 miles to the gallons :bigups

My Process:

-Wash w/Poorboy's Spray & Wipe

-Werkstatt Prime by hand

-Werkstatt AJ by hand

-Wheels were cleaned with TOL's gentle wheel wash & sealed with PB's wheel sealant

You probably already know this, but don't use tire gloss on cycle tires.

Sweet ride... always wanted a Gixxer but a 28" inseam makes it difficult! Best of luck, and keep the rubber side down!

NO problem with short legs

Just lower the bike, cheap and easy, and also adjust preload so it sags more when you sit on the bike, free and takes 5 mins.

Awesome bike, been putting the bug in the wife's ear about an '06 GSX R 750 for some time. Weighs 4 more pounds than the 600 but, 25 more hp. I love my current bike (1997 Honda VFR750F) but, the GSXR is a bit sharper blade for carving corners on roads like the GAP.

Just be careful, not sure of how much riding experience you have but, don't be fooled into thinking it is only a 600 what kind of trouble can you get into. That bike is a hare's breath away from a full on race bike. You can get into trouble before you can blink :soscared:

Again, I am not sure of your experience level so please forgive me if you do have riding experience but if not, I would highly suggest taking an MSF riding course.

Just keep in mind what lowering the bike and increasing sag too far will do to the handling. Lowering is going to mean a lot more scraping of hard parts when the corners get tight, definitely not a good thing. Increasing sag will cause unpredictable results in corners. Too much sag will cause handling similar to what a car feels like with worn out shocks, it will wallow through corners.

If most of your riding is on city streets and you don't anticipate doing any serious corner carving than you probably won't run into serious problems with these two mods but, they are certainly something I would never recommend.

One thing I would recommend for people who have a problem flat footing a bike is to consider having their seat modified. You would be suprised at how much they can lower the seating area on some bikes. A great place that does custom seat work is Sargent Cycle. I have had them do work on my seats in the past and they are top notch.
