Recent Detail--1999 Honda Accord

03COBRA

I miss my 03 Cobra......
Well my GF has a co-worker who is a bit down on her luck. Here Husband just served her with Divorce papers. So I decided to give her an X-mas gift and detail her car.

This thing was in pretty bad shape, she is from Texas, recently moved here, and I don't think it has been washed in a couple of weeks, months!:nixweiss I didn't realize the amount of swirls this thing had until I was done washing it. The amount of dirt on this thing you could hardly see yourself, if at all. The front wheels were caked with brake dust. Claying this thing was a joke, I almost had to use the entire bar.

Sorry for the bad lighting, it almost rained that day. And I didn't get to dress the interior, ran out of time. But the Woolite mix gave a good cleaning that looked nice. I was waiting for my Adam's V.R.T. to show up, but it showed up after I was done! I didn't get all of the swirls out, I think I am going to invest in a rotary after X-mas.:scared

Process:

--Wash (NXT-Gold Class Mix)

--Clay (Mother's)

--Meguiar's #83 DACP Via PC and 7.5" LC Concaved Cutting Pad on 6

--Menzerna FP II Via PC and 6.5" Meguiar's Polishing Pad on 6

--Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant By Hand

--Adam's MF Towels For Buffing

--Meguiar's APC (10:1) On Lower Panels/Wheels/Wheel Wells

--Interior Cleaned w/Woolite Mix (6:1)

--VM On Windows

--Meguiar's Hyper Dressing In Wells

--Poorboy's BnB On Tires/Trim

--Zaino Z2 On Wheels

are we looking at the same car :nixweiss

looksl ike the swirls are outto me,

menzerna IP is some pretty good stuff, maybe you should try that :xyxthumbs

looks awesome otherwise :D

Looks really great! It's very nice of you to do something like this for her.

For some reason, the V6 Accords seem to have a lot of brake dust. My sister has one and it is just loaded with brake dust after only a short drive. Great job on getting them clean!

Awesome work on the Accord and it's nice to know you helped someone out. It's better to give then receive, especially this time of year.

Excellent work! Looks like a nice two step polishing process you've found for neglected paint. Wolfgang is a nice sealant on dark paint too. ;)

BTW, I am waiting on my free detail. I got divorced about 9 years ago.

:hm Uuuuuuhhhhh! yeah. Ok. Not really sure what to say. I could use your car as a test for my new Rotary!;) I will come down to Tx, let you polish and seal the paint, then I will apply the top coat. Sound like a deal, I think YOU and everyone will be happy wit the results!

03Cobra: very nice work

tkr128: I had similar dusting problems with my 2000 V6 Coupe, I'd wash the car & start seeing dusting within 10 miles .... what a PITA. I switched over to ceramic pads & the dusting problem is 99% gone with no loss in braking efficiency.

Same with my Accord. In fact, the Pro Stop Plus Ceramic Pads stopped better than the Axxis Metal Masters I had on prior to switching to ceramaic.

Hey thanks for the forum hi-jack you brake dust freaks!:D I work for a Goodyear retail store, and ceramic brake pads are all we sell there. We sell the Raybestos Ceramic QS pads. They will last longer, less noise, and less dust than semi-metallic pads. They are much easier on the rotors too. The ceramic pads let the rotor win the war basically.

awesome job. and that's nice of you to detail her car.

scottwax's car should be easy. just wash it (or QEW) and apply the LSP of his choice. :D
