I finally got my rotary from UPS today, but I still need some pads and backing plates. Is it possible to use my backing plates that I have for my PC? I am definitely going to purchase some rotary specific backing plates, but I was just wondering if the ones for the PC are compatible with the rotary?

With so many different backing plates and pads to choose from I want to be sure that I start off with the best ones available. I hate buying things only to be disappointed with my decision. So, I am asking you fellow members for your expert advice. What I would like to know is which products you recommend and best place to purchase from. And, also what sizes? I've heard alot of good things about the Propel pads, but so far the only place that I know of that sells them is exceldetail and it appears as if they are out of stock on alot of them. Where else can I find these? Thanks for all your help.

propels are what I bought when I got the rotary. lake country will work too (i dont recommend their backing plates though, ive had 2 melt on me when using the PC).

someone said that you can unscrew the threaded part of a PC backing plate and that will give you a female end that will screw onto the rotary, but i couldnt figure out how to unscrew it :(

The two machines will NOT share a backing plate without the use of an adapter. I don't recommend the use of an a adapter with either one as it introduces another point of potential failure.

Yes, I definitely want to avoid having to use adapters. I read the thread regarding the adapter failure on the PC that caused substantial damage to the hood of that car.
