read these wash techniques(LOL!!!)

I like to use a mixture of a little hydrochloric acid, some pool chlorine, some goof-off, some kerosene, some acetone, a little diesel oil, eye of newt, vitamin C, ginko biloba, and viagra. My paint is so confused, it just gives up, releases its hold on all the bad stuff adhered to it. It is healthy and invigorated - and of course once the viagra takes hold it is hard as glass and doesn't scratch!

LMAO@carguy!!!!

That was funny and scary :scared. I liked the one who said he used to use woolite but found Downey to be so much better.

How about the baking soda  .

WWWOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!:shocked

That's scary!!! I can't believe some people!! They'd be better off parking it outside 24/7 and never washing it!!!

All I can say is that this forum knows more than anyone on the other one!!!

Wow!

:scared

...I never wax my truck, so I guess it wouldn't matter; I wash it often enough.

I just started with the vinegar solution [and Meguiar's Gold Class (at least he's on the right track!)] and I love it. My chrome wheels have never been cleaner.

Oh, and I use a pressure washer. I use an obtuse angle spray to remove dirt/grease/etc w/o pounding it into my paint.

What a bunch of idiots ! That thread really shattered my view on truck owners.

Their idea of a chat forum is probably channel 19 on their CB radio.

**Sorry if I offended any truck owners (or CB'ers) out there, but I just can't believe that someone who pays $20k or (much) more for a vehicle nowadays, and is (relatively) intelligent enough to use the Internet, can treat a vehicle that way.

I don't think I can ever buy a second hand truck after reading that thread.

Some people just don't have the first clue about car-care, you have just found the national poster children for it.

OMG!!!! I have a f150 also so I am proof that not all of us are that stupid ( well thats what I keep telling myself anyway :) )

MAC[H]Z - Most of the truck owners I know are along the Autopian type or at worst use Rain Dance or TW.

I noticed that you're from Concord...I used to live in Keene until not too long ago...practically neighbors !

Jeebus! I'm currently in the market for another vehicle, and it really scares me seeing how other people take care of their cars. Especially leased cars. Well, at least whoever buys my car is gonna get something that's well taken care of.

hahaha JEEBUS

flannel shirts, and heat guns work best drying the car, spraying a light mist of WD-40 can add that gloss and slickness you've been looking for.

I thought everyone knew this....:nixweiss

hahahah....

Well, I guess you could just dump the wife's delicates in a bucket o' Woolite and wash the truck with 'em - kill 2 birds with one stone!

(Honey, why are my bras on your windshield?):p

Please Please I have a Harley Davidson Ford F150 and I'm on this site to learn how to take care of this wondeful truck. Not all truck owners are alike.

Hmmm, another F150 4by owner here and I'm practicing the Ralph Cramden anger management technique right now.

"Pins and needles, needles and pins. It's a happy man that grins":D

I may not be knee deep in $50.00 mf towels and Souveran Pinnacle (not yet anyway), but please don't pigeon hole truck owners as being out of a scene from Smokey and the Bandit. Granted, that thread didn't exactly paint truck owners in the best light and won't win any of us an honorary doctorate in advanced auto detailing, but I've seen my neighbor wash his Z3 Roadster with Cascade. I've also watched him empty the gasoline out of the lawnmower (a whole 1 gallon) because he said it is unsafe to have in the garage all winter. When I asked him if he needed a siphon hose to empty the gas out of his bimmer he looked at me like I was nuts. I certainly wouldn't form an opinion of BMW owners based on my experience with him.

Not flaming, just venting.:wavey

Sorry if I bent any feathers...I did not intend any disrespect towards truck owners (especially those that are Autopians!)...I just used to live around "rednecks" for a long time who would use a garage broom to sweep snow off their trucks and other such antics and then swear up & down that they pamper their trucks.

I realize that the thread that I was commenting on was probably more sarcasm than reality and even if it was entirely true, would not apply to the vast majority of truck owners.

As I said in my "disclaimer," I meant no offense...

jimwh,

Understood. Initially I wasn't going to say anything but I hate being stereotyped. I am a member of a truck web site (not that one) and the overwhelming majority of people there are big time auto enthusiasts, not just truck enthusiasts. I like to think the folks there are the majority and the ones in that post are the minority. Like I said, I like to think that anyway :nixweiss .

No real offense taken. I feel a group hug coming on :wavey.

Only goes to show. You can take the truck out of the country but you can not take the country out of the truck owner. HeHeHe :D. (Just a joke not intended to offend and of course not true.)

I used to water my truck with dish washing detergent when necessary. It was a work truck and treated as such. The detailing hobby was for the cars.

Sheesh! That's like suggesting that you use Comet as a swirl remover. Or maybe a little soft scrub would be better? <img src="http://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/Images/ugone2far.gif" Its funny how people try to figure out how to use their normal house cleaner stuff on their car. Why don't they do a little looking on the internet? They might just find Autopia and get set straight.
