Re-painted and wet-sanded, what next???

i recently re-painted and re-cleared my trunk lid. i wet sanded starting from 1500 and moved up to 2000. to get the scratches out i use 3M fine cut Rubbing Compound. but there are still some scratches in the paint. i'm afraid to keep using the rubbing compund, i don't want to get too deep into the new clearcoat. i went over the entire trunk 2 times. what should i use next to get the remaining scratches out????

They're many variables in your question.



How many layers of clear did you apply, are you using a wool or foam polishing pad, what speed are you poloshing at, how deep are the scratches, are the scratches on the surface or under the paint, are they shratches or just swirlmarks from the compounding?
