Rant- "Women Drivers" Nonsense!

On [another forum I frequent] somebody posted about how his wife wrecked his car (she really just bent a rim, probably hit a pothole)..."!never let your wife drive your car!" and so on. Lots of machismo, lots of piling on.

Women drivers! Yeah...every guy who's ever seen a Burt Reynolds movie knows how to drive, right? And hey, girls just don't.

Well, if your wife/GF/SO/kid/etc. doesn't drive as well as they should, why not get them some training? Might make the world a safer place for everyone.

And, what usually happens is...the girls in the class outdrive the guys easy as pie. No testosterone-induced stupidity for one thing :chuckle: The best driver I know, and that's saying something ;) is a woman (she was a driving instructor for the Secret Service).

A class like the VDI Accident Avoidance Course (LINK: Tony Scotti's Vehicle Dynamics Institute - VDI Driver Training Courses and Programs ) is cheap enough and lots of fun. Better use of money than paying some insurance deductible, let alone medical bills. I bet most anybody would benefit from a class like that.

And yeah, of course...Accumulatorette is a well-trained driver who can drive any of my cars any time.

I totally agree with you. No excuse for condemming someone for their ignorance. I wish every state would give more training for accident avoidance to new drivers and every time you renewed your DL. Or, atleast something offered by your insurance company as it's surely going to reduce rates/exposure.

I was kinda surprised that I didn't get flamed right off that forum for my (predictable ;) ) response, at least not yet.

I do wonder though, if the wife can't drive the car does that mean the husband is always the designated driver?
