Rant: Sprinklers

or businesses for that matter. Not uncommon for me to turn around when I see water and find another route. At first my friends thought I was crazy...but after spending countless hours getting my truck looking good, I refuse to drive through water (unless I absolutely have no choice), then I'll pull over and wipe it off. True stories.

Yeah I remember a member on the corvette forum got sprinkled with some well water and the water spots were so bad he did repaint..... :nixweiss

What I really don't understand is how any business would allow their sprinklers to run during business hours when customer's cars are in the parking lot. I ate lunch at Chik-Fil-A a while back and in the middle of the afternoon (when anyone with brains should know you DON'T water), their sprinklers came on and soaked the front end of my car. I went in to talk to the manager and he tells me "the landscapers set the timing" and I asked him "who runs this place, you or them?". He then said "well, it is only water" and then I said "so it is okay if I go out there and dump water all over you car since it is just water". At that point, he finally seemed to understand why I was upset.

I completely understand your frustration! It annoys the hell out me too.

Yet again another reason I love Autopia... y'all understand things like this :xyxthumbs

I hate this too. SO irritating. I also hate people or businesses that have sprinkler systems that don't have moisture detectors that water in the pouring rain. Dumbasses.

Yea, some type of rain/water is extremely damaging even if your car is only exposed once.

I left my car out in the rain and the next day I had these INSANE water spots on my windows that wouldn't come out! I paniced and pulled out some Prime Strong with a terry and worked it in by hand for half an hour (worked it in being an understatement, i literally was putting all my weight onto the window to get them out). All the spots are gone!

It's just crazy what a little water can do!

Last summer in the parking lot at work there was a woman with a BMW who parked every day in her assigned space and every afternoon the sprinklers came on and soaked the front of her car. It pained me to watch and know that she must have miserable water etching. I couldn't bring myself to walk over and take a close look at her hood.

you must have some hard water there. If I get water on my car, rain or from the tap, the spots go away with a normal wash.

It's terrible here in Florida - I left my car in a spot at my girlfriend's school once, and when I came back, the sprinklers had etched *through* a spot in my spoiler's clearcoat. I think it's the sulfur water they use for irrigation.
