Ran Out of Black Bimmers - So I did a Black Aston Martin Vantage

I got a chance to do this car as an "evaluation" for the shop owner who has had bad experiences with prior detailers. He heard about my BMW work and his customer bought this Aston Martin to the shop for a detail.

The initial washing revealed a fair amount of light scratching.

At 10 feet and no direct sun...it looked pretty good

In the shop, the doggone clear bra looked better than the finish! I changed that however.

Process: Metabo rotary with Meg's So1o polishing pad (a very nice pad BTW) and 83. Followed by Menzerna IP to bring the finish to total swirl free condition. After that, I applied a coat of Z5 Pro with the Festool in random orbit mode, wiped and put a coat of Pinnacle Souveran paste by hand.

Ta-Da! The car owner picked it up today. Very happy...very, very happy....and I'm scheduling his Ferrari, Mercedes, and a couple of other collector cars. The shop owner is super pleased with the work as well.

Now, the clear bra is hazy compared to the original finish...

Happy and tired!

Very nice! Now just dress those tires and you're good to go. :)

Did that a few minutes after these pics were taken. I wanted to get some sun on the car to check for wax residue (found some on the clear bra masking the leading edge of the rear fenders). I ended up using the Michelin tire dressing (I still like that stuff cause it's not too glossy and water based).

Spoiled Man: yes, I used IP after 83 (the 83 did the grunt work and IP was just to make sure I didn't miss anything in the process)

very awesome work man. I have been wanting to try the megs solo system but i havnt heard much about it. how do you like it?

The So1o system is designed for new paint, but their backing plate and pads can be used for any application. I like the polishing and finishing pad for use with the Festool as it fits their larger backing plate perfectly and works well.

Mike Phillips said the liquid "can" be used on some cars (I think the product is #86), but on others it will not correct. I tried it on an older black BMW and it would not remove scratches or swirls.
