RainX in the spray bottle

Is this some new formula of RainX?? It sucks, whatever it is. Usually the water just zips off my window whether I'm driving or standing still. I had to be driving 60 mph before the drops would move with this spray bottle stuff. Its a pretty stark difference to what I'm used to. I didn't see any noticable advantage to buying it in the spray bottle either. The application procedure was still basicly the same. You still need to wash the windows after you apply it to get rid of the haze. The only difference is that it doesn't drip down the glass. Big whoop... If the stuff in the bottle is going to work better than this then I don't mind chasing it down the glass. I never thought that was a problem anyway.



Anyone else had this experience with the spray RainX? Its a couple bucks cheaper than the stuff in the normal bottle. I suggest you spend the other couple bucks. The store didn't have any of the regular stuff when I bought this so I figured I'd give it a try. It still works, just not as well. I'm curious to find out how long it will last.
 
I used to have the spray bottle Rain X for a long time. My method of application was to clean the windows first, apply it, wait for it to haze then wash the entire car. Never had streaking issues this way.
 
I have had the same problem. I used to use it in a small 3oz bottle and 5oz bottle. Lasted me a long time. Then someone gave me a spray bottle of the stuff about 2.5 years ago. I also got a new (to me ) car and tried it on it. It never seemed to work as well as on my old car. Never thought it was the rainX. I will have to try and find my old bottles. THe spray stuff seemed to wear off really quick and maybe thinner.

I just checked the rain-x website and they have a new version of the rain-x that is called windsheild wax. Hmm.

I'm not having any trouble with it streaking or anything. In fact, I've been doing the whole washing the entire car after application trick for years before I found Autopia. And I know that Aquapel is better or whatever. Its just that Aquapel doesn't grow on the shelves like it used to and RainX works for me. :)



It seems to be doing better now. This was the first real driving in the rain I've done since I put it on. I still think that the beads collect a little too tightly and they cling a little more than they should be. After this bottle is gone I'm going back to the original stuff.
 
I tested Rain-X in the 60s in Viet Nam where when it rains it comes down in buckets. We needed it for aircraft winshields. The origional was a ***** to get off but worked great. What you bought off the shelf during the early 90s was good but a weaker virsion of the origional. Rain-X sold the company in the mid 90's and the quality has gone down hill since, more profit worse product. I expect they will go out of business with lots of our money, and ruin what was a great product which saved the lives of a lot of pilots.

Damn shame
