Yes many windshield fluids are harmful to wax, paint, and even wiper blades. 303 Windshield Tablets make a paint-safe, wiper blade safe, wax safe solution.
Unfortunately, it's not an option for winter use. I put a film container filled with the 303 solution in my freezer, and the next day it was frozen solid. Oh well.
