Race Glaze-preliminary review

I got some samples of Race Glaze products to try. Really haven't seen them discussed on the board, good or bad, so when offered a chance to try them, I did. I got the samples from Rich, who is a distributor (in the interest of full disclosure). I was asked to try them and comment on them good or bad.

I got their wash, sealant (actually a sealant and polish in one), a compound, a swirl remover and their QD along with a dense oval foam hand pad.

Real busy week since the rain stopped so I've been doing a lot of catching up and haven't been able to get by my distributor for some extra pads for my PC to test the swirl remover and compound yet but I have tried the wash and sealant.

Wash, aka LAS Wash-real nice coconut scent, similar consistancy to Gold Class Wash except a touch thicker. Very concentrated. One ounce is enough to wash a full sized SUV and have suds for the duration. Slippery feel too. Seems to be a pretty decent car wash soap, again reminiscent of Gold Class wash.

Sealant, aka Polish & Sealant-I was pretty impressed with this product, much more than expected. I'm not really much for all in one products, I prefer stuff that does one thing well. Anyway, either by hand using their dense foam pad (I cut it in half, it is about 4" by 6" in size) spritzed with their QD or a foam polishing pad and PC, it really cleans up the paint nicely and leaves a look similar to NXT. The difference though is this product has more 'bite' than NXT, making it even more useful for one step jobs on paint in good condition, whereas NXT works best on paint already in very good to excellent condition.

I have P&S on 3 vehicles right now to monitor the durability. A black Silverado SS I see weekly, a black Escalade I see about once every 2 months (I clean his other cars regularly though) and a grey Mazda 6 I wash about once a month...but I did top the 6 with Natty's at the owner's request. The Silverado is washed conventionally, usually using Gold Class, the Escalade is run through the gas station car wash and I get my hands on it every couple of months for a good cleaning, also washing conventionally. The Mazda6 is washed by me using QEW and occasionally through a converyer car wash. I wanted to try it on a variety of vehicles that weren't cared for the exact same way to see how it holds up and also with a carnauba topper to see how that option works.

If the sealant holds up well, it would work well for me at the office that rewards their employees with one step details. NXT isn't always aggressive enough and PwC and VM aren't really meant for long term protection.

I took pics but if you have used NXT on black, you already have a decent idea how it looks. Once I try the other products, I will add to this review. I just want to use new pads so I can properly judge the results.

Sounds like a good one-step, for the sealant.... Keep us updated on the durability :) How is the slickness? Cure times?

I experienced very poor durability with their products. They also did not cooperate too well in the sun; a major downfall for me.

The small bottle of the sealant I have says 'new and improved'. On the first two vehicles, I used it in the shade, on the Mazda, part of the car was in the late afternoon winter sun (maybe 65 degrees or so) but the paint was only warm to the touch.

I wanted to try it on vehicles that I will see again so I can monitor how well it holds up. Like I said, initial performance seems good but durability is going to be the key as to whether or not I will buy some with my own money.

01bluecls-cures quickly, I was apply to 2-3 sections at a time and removing. Slickness is decent.

I am confused about one thing. It says on the bottle that additional applications improve appearance and durability. Appearance I can understand since it is a polish and will micropolish the paint each time. That makes sense. Improved durability? I guess it depends on how much of the original protection the next application removes, but it seems like it would remove it all since it did remove some light water spotting and dried bug guts. :nixweiss

Race Glaze is pretty popular in MN. The owners of Wizards used to work for Race Glaze....they took their product recipes and marketing plan and started Wizards...the products are exactly the same.

I would put the Polish & Sealant in the K. AIO class for everything...durability, swirl removing ability...all that.

My favorite product of theirs is the Gloss Highlighter detail spray.

Keep us posted on the reviews!
