I've had my eye on this "garage toy" for over a year now. I recently saw an opp to purchase for $160, with free shipping, and other goodies thrown in by Dwayne at Four Star/ PremiumAutoCare.com.



Easy assembly. An extemely well designed and made piece. It works quite well, but...



I thought it would be great for buffing and other work on lower panels. Not. Or at least, it is not any more useful than a $25 secretarial chair from Sam's that I use on a daily basis. It's strength, and original purpose, is working directly on the floor. Such as in carpet installation, etc



So, altho it is very well made, I don't find it to be a "go to tool" for the auto detailer. Quite expensive.

I agree that unless you are working low to the ground for any period of time it probably isn't a good investment. I plan on getting one eventually for doing paint repairs as I need to be low to the ground for extended periods of time when wetsanding and performing the actual bodywork. I have never found rolling stools or the like to be helpful to me when detailing as I like to keep moving and working and sitting just doesn't help me finish my work faster.
 
I thought I would bring this thread back to see if Jimmy or anyone has an updated review on this tool.



Is it useful to these who own it? Do you find it easy to detail the bottom half of the car?

Curious, I promise the pic of the Civic (?) was not originally included, and, I cannot edit/delete the picture...



Regarding the Racatac, we use it everyday to scrub/extract floor mats, and it has held up very well. I just tried it again to buff lower panels and it is doable, but not all that comfortable.



Overall? We like it.
