Quick Detailers

I have a few quick detailers lying around and was curious to everyones opinion. Which QD would be the best for claying as far as marring or lack of is concerned. And would that QD be able to double as a normal detailer would as far as clean/gloss etc.??

What QDs do you having lying around. Mostly all of then except for UQD are good for claying. but tell me what you have first and I can give you an idea of which may be best. There are two type of QDs One with gloss and one for cleaning. For claying I would say that you want the one that does the best cleaning and lubricant. Zaino guys use a mixture of car wash (Z7) and water, but not all systems work like that.

I have a little LUber from CG some Megs QD and a tiny bit of Megs last touch. The reason I ask is I like Last Touch as a drying aid, and considering the amount of threads on QDs as of late I figured I would look for some opinions. That being said, I dont have enough of any one to finish even 1 last car but I am looking to buy more. Just looking for discussion/opinions....oh and I think im gonna buy the Fk sample set to see how good 425 reallllly is.

I never used CGs Luber, but the name tells me that it is probably made for claying (just a guess though). I have used Regular Megs QD (Red Bottle) with great success. Last Touch Detailer is like FK425 glossy, but does not clean very well. I would save Last Touch Detailer for the last wipedown after your LSP.

ONR can be made into a great claying lube as well.

Are you getting Last Touch and Final inspection mixed up? FI has a good gloss. And if I didnt mention before, I am thinking about buying Last Touch for claying and cleaning but I dont want to buy a gallon if theres significantly beter things out there by experience.

Best qd's in IMO:

CK QUICKSHINE, leaves nothing on the surface of the car so probs with bonding issues after wipe downs between products and leaves the car looking great.

FK425, great looks, sickly sweet smell.

Mothers Showtime, similar to QS i quiet like it.

:secret and just as good as 425, and similar to 425 in that it leaves protection you would be well advised to check out Hot Rod Protective Detailer :xyxthumbs

I have done a few posts on QD's (i love them!) so search my username for more threads and thoughts.

For me, LT is great when you consider the economy of the product. I think you can but a better product (in terms of looks etc) esp. if you have only or 2 cars or just want it for final wipe down to add some jazz.

No I am not getting things mixed up. FI is a body shop safe, paintable QD with very little gloss and better cleaning ability. Last Touch Detailer (I did call it Last detailer in my last post) is the glossier of the two and has less cleaning ability.

Im an idiot lol. Thats what i meant(sorry its been a tough week). I appreciate the response. I guess I'm not sure what to buy as far as QDs are concerned. And I have used to Mothers showtime too and I do like it. I guess Im looking to branch into just as effective yet cost efficient stuff. Thanks for the responses thus far guys.

No problem. My fingers were not working for me either. I could not type the word "TOUCH". I corrected my post to show the correct product name.

effective yet cost efficient stuff that I can think of is Optimum NoRinse, because it has so many uses (Clay Lube, Water Softener, QD, and No-Rinse Wash). It also works well and gives a pretty decent shine on its own. You can then top with a FK425 or Last Touch if you like a little extra gloss.

howareb and steel, what are your opinions on megs final inspection? I know this sounds like im partial to Megs LT but for some reason I have noticed alot of posts on here regarding it and it seems pretty decent especially considering the cost for a gallon. What are your opinons regarding LT and Final Insp???

For claying, I typically use one of the Meguiar's QDs...either the plain QD in the burgundy bottle that you can buy cheaply at WalMart, or #34 (Final Inspection). I also use QEW mixed to QD strength occasionally - talk about a really inexpensive way to make a QD.

In terms of maintenance QDs, I am currently liking Pinnacle Crystal Mist Carnauba Detailer, as well as the DuraGloss 921. I am going to pick up some of the Surf City Hot Rod Detailer after the new year and give it a shot, as I have heard it is really slick looking.

I have used Final Inspection and like it as a QD. Doesn't quite leave the gloss like PB S&G has for me but it cleans nice. Haven't used it as clay bar lubricant though, for that I have used diluted ONR. Works well, and economical to boot.

FI is a great cleaning QD. So if you have some rain spots that you want to get off or something it works well. Remember though that is a professional product. It uses are for wipe downs after compounding/polishing, you can use as a clay lube, or just as a surface cleaner (it is eve paintable). You would not get an impressionable gloss out of it. It is not made to gloss. If you want to try it go to CarQuest and pick one up. They are about 9 -11 dollars.

If you are looking to get a QD that will be dedicated as a clay lube you cannot beat ONR.. I am VERY liberal with my ONR QD while claying and thanks to dilution I am able to be really cost effective.

FYI: I use a little stronger ratio than what is suggested by the mfg.

Einszett raindance is a great clay lube when not diluted as it's quite lubricated and just goes and goes.

how bout instead of a qd as a lube, use your fav. car wash solution. i always clay my car with car wash shampoo, in my case cg's citrus w&g. works great and leaves it looking slick.

What's this Diven Quik Spray? Give us a link. Thanks
