How do i get off this heavy black soot stuff???

also note: there is a small bubble of paint smaller than a dime in the middle of that black stuff. It saddens me and i feel guilty for letting it get this bad but im determined to get it to look as good as possible. It might have to be repainted but so far ive

washed it thorugly with pb sss and a bug and tar remover (you should have seen it before i did that) then i tried some simple green. It doesnt wanna budge anymore. Not to mention they were rough wahs mitts not my usual mf wash mitt.

Anything else i can try before i....

clay bar the entire truck tomorrow

then use (pc of course)

ssr3

ssr2

ssr1

ex sealant

nattys blue

Any ideas cuz im stumped.

Btw sorry ive been off the forums so long but lifes busy busy =), now im tryin to get the truck in mint condition before i head off to college and only have time to wash it =(.

thx in advance, will post pics at the end of the weekend!

Looks like you have a well driven Lightning there...

If the Simple Green didn't get rid of it, try some hand cleaner, like Goop. Its non-abrasive and will dissolve the tar/grease/soot and it should wipe right off.

Also, hit it with a paint cleaner, or SSR3 by hand.

Simple Green is also available in a much stronger Automotive formula. It can generally be found at AutoZone, etc. It does a LOT better than the regular stuff at removing stubborn stains like that. So long as you don't let it sit too long, it shouldn't harm the paint.

ya its an 04, just hit 30k. The catback is from 2 previous lightings with no cats (mine are still on) so i think the black crap is from leftover stuff in the mufflers. It sounds badass but that black crap pisses me off. I hope it comes off tomorrow.

ill let every1 know how it goes, thx for the input
