ok guys back with my latest questions lol

First question, I bought 3M perfect it III because I've heard some very good reviews on it.. there is no instructions on the bottle, Now I'm assuming you work it just like every other abrasive... until it's dry?

And what exactly are the proper techniques for #82 and 80.. do I use them just like I would with DACP?

thanks,

Nick

~One mans opinion / observations~

Machine Polish:

Are formulated with lubricates, solvents and water, and an abrasive 0.3 micron granules, that diminishes with use providing a progressively finer abrasive polish that will burnish the paint surface and provide a gloss. They are buffered or cushioned in a rich, lubricating oil film, usually in a semi-liquid paste.

Available in many different grades (the ability to abrade i.e. to remove levels of paint) for detailing work they usually range from a 2000< grit polish (very mild) to a swirl mark remover (a medium abrasive) 1500 grit or a compound (various levels of abrasive) 1000 – 800 grit

When using a machine polish that contains diminishing abrasives, once the abrasives reach a certain size they will no longer abrade (cut) the surface, if on further inspection the surface still has some defects, you will need to apply fresh polish. It is normal to polish a surface (unless the defects are minor) and to renew the polish to abrade the surface three or more times.

I’m sure someone who uses Megs could give you product specific tips on their use

~Hope this helps~

I have used 3M PIT-III RC and #82. You will have no problems using the 3M as it will dry out and leave residue so you its done, with #82 is a bit more tricky as it seems to want to go on forever, I just love how smooth it polishes out. Ya, just use them like any other polish and wipe off with a MF.

With the #80, just work it until it changes from its unappealing original color to clear (or sometimes pink). At that point it's fully broken down.

I find that the MG can be worked until it's dry or removed just a little before then. Just watch that you don't overwork it to where the dried polish and the pad combine to induce micromarring. Keeping theh pad clean and not using too much product helps a lot.
