Ive herd good things about this stuff. How abbrasive is this compound? Anything with the word compound scares me, lol. My paint overall is in pretty good condition with some swirls and scratches. I used megs 80 and 83 last year and wasnt happy with the correction it was suppose to do. Can anyone help me out?

Are you using a PC or a rotary? My sister used to own a black Jetta and the paint was hard enough that I had to mix Hi Temp Extreme cut in with Optimum Polish to correct it. I followed that up with another polishing step of OP and it looked great. I dont use Optimum with a PC because it takes a long time to break down.

I have no experience with the compound, just the polish.

Im using a PC 7424 with an LC orange and white

technomafia, Optimum Compound and Polish are kinda outdated products. They aren't *bad* products, but honestly there are alot of better choices out there.

If you truly need a serious compound, consider gettin some Meguairs M95. It's a very heavy hitter that finishes down nicely for a compound.

For a medium duty polish, consider Menzerna Super Intensive Polish. Don't let the name fool you, it's actually a very safe and quite mild medium duty polish (it's not as aggressive as a true compound).

For a finishing polish, you might want to look into Menzerna PO106FF Nano Polish. IMO, it'll give you a better finish than the Optimum Polish will.

Keep in mind when you use these polishes that you might need to do multiple applications to get the desired results. PC's just don't have the muscle that a rotary buffer does, so expect it to take alot of time and alot of applications.

Also, always use 4" pads with the PC for best results.

yeah i know of Menzerna. I just didnt want to spend $50 a bottle. But im starting to realize that maybe I should spring for it.

what about this Menzerna intro kit for $60?? its Menzera intensive and final polish. Or should I just get the other stuff?

Menzerna Intro Kit

I'm using Optimum Hyper compound , Compound and Polish all with my UDM and 4" pads. I have had pretty decent results so far. I will agree that it takes a long time for these products to break down using a UDM/PC. But for a much cheaper route than the Menzerna, the results are quite good.

If you go with the 4" pads, you should have no problems (other than time, perhaps) correcting the paint with OC and OP. 6.5" pads may not get you the results you want on the hard VW clear.

but why use M95 when you can use M105, and finish up much nicer and clearer. Saves time, but costs more money I guess.
