I have two buffers, a Craftsman random orbital buffer

And a Black & Decker Automotive Series rotary buffer

Quesiton 1: Does anyone have any experience with these, or have these?

2: Where can I buy pads for these?

Thanks.

I believe the black and decker rotaries have been discontinued and is now the dewalt or being made by dewalt or something like that. They were supposed to be quality rotaries though. Thats all I know.

Exactly right. The B&D polisher is a classic unit. Most everyone who started polishing cars years ago has used or owned one of these. B&D power tools morphed into the DeWalt brand name and that basic unit is now known as the DW849, probably the most respected polisher in the business.

Anyway, lots of people here have experience with both of those polishers. They're kind of on opposite ends of the spectrum; the Sears buffer is great for beginners and casual enthusiasts who just want something simple to use. They're great for applying cleaner waxes. I used one similar to that for many years (still have it but no longer use it). Finding bonnets for them will be challenging but you can find some at Pep Boys and a few places online.

The B&D is a serious machine best used by an experienced user. We talk a lot about rotary polishers here so do a search on "rotary" and you'll find tons of info, including where to buy pads and accessories. Have a look at Autopia sponsors too.

If you've been paying attention you'll have noticed we talk a lot about the Porter Cable 7424 and all its variants, aka "PC". This machine is the perfect in-between unit to your two. Not as challenging as the B&D but performs much better than the Sears unit. One nice thing about the PC is the pads are interchangable with the rotary.

ok, thanks. I would buy a porter cable or something, but right now I have pretty much no money due to some repairs on my car. I was hoping that these would work for what I need, I suppose they will, I just have to find the bonnets for them.
