I have a rotary polisher and was wondering if it would be a wise choice to purchase a DA polisher to add to the arsenal? Or would that just be a waste of money?

I guess it depends on how good you are with the rotary and what you are doing. I for one use both all of the time. I could never use the rotary on my motorcycle or any of the bikes I detail and I use the Pc a lot for finish polishing or applying wax/sealant.

I think so, yes. Some people like to finish down with a DA to get the surface hologram free. You can use it to wax with also.

I'll be purchasing a DA soon to add to the arsenal. I do a lot of polishing and it sure will be a relief on my hands an wrists to be able to polish with something other than my Maki sometimes.

Another person that uses both most of the time as well. At first I really thought the D/A was a waste of money. But with so many others using it and ranting and raving about it I decided to take the plunge and see what all the hype was about. It really gives you flexability. You can't get into every place with the rotary and sometimes the D/A is just better suited for the job at hand. Been a great purchase.

Just ordered my 7424 xp hopefully I'll get a chance to use it. The weather has been terrible here in Rhode Island.

I agree that I use both all of the time...Each one performs different tasks more efficiently and more effectively than the other (depending on what that task is)

A rotary is much easier on my hands than a DA, the vibrations from a DA kill my hands and arms.

I agree with the rest... I do 95% rotary work but on some paints and in some areas a PC/G110 is just better suited with smaller pads. Definitely a must in someone's arsenal, especially if you're doing a few cars with soft paints where rotary might give you trouble finishing.

i'm a newb to most machine stuff, i've been working at a paint and body shop for about a month now though and wound up running the DA there alot, its an air tool though.

Anyway i was thinking i'd step up from my little orbital buffer thing that basically slaps the wax on faster and start trying to correct the swirls on my truck.

Craigdt thanks i was looking at it on autogeek, idk a whole lot i'm still reading.

sorry to thread jack

I prefer a rotoray for cutting and serious paint defect work, and a DA for polishing and wax applications. Honestly now that Im not doing it for money and just my own vehicles, Im just using a DA. Correct myself will be both my rotary and DA are shot. Cant wait to replace.
