below are some pictures of my wheels. the spokes are not in the best condition, they have scratches on them obviously. what im wondering is what i should use to clean them up and try to get rid of the scratches, if possible even. i cant tell if my wheels are clearcoated aluminium. it seems like theyre only clearcoated in between the spokes, but not on the face of the spokes. can you tell by these pictures if they are clearcoated?

Holy crap! Did you clean those with Bon-Ami?

To test if the wheels are clearcoated, perform this test:

Rub a bit of metal polish on the wheel with a white towel. If the towel turns black, it is NOT clearcoated. If it does not turn black, the wheel IS clearcoated, and you need to use a paint polish on them.

Those are some pretty nasty scratches though. I don't know how much success you'll have polishing those all out.

Prevention is the best way. Once you get to this point, it's doubtful that you can reverse the damage.

nope. i live in new england and before i knew better, i would visit automatic car washes every so often during the winter because touch free's didnt do a great job all the time. i live in an apartment complex, so i dont really know what else to do. although qew does sound like an interesting option. honestly the wheels arent as bad as they look, you can only see the scratches when youre really upclose, they still have a nice shine when theyre clean. thanks for the suggestions, im gonna try that.

I live in an apartment complex too. I have a garage, so that's very convenient. I use QEW roughly twice a week. In the summertime, I often go for a week or more with just a daily dusting with my OXO duster, and then QD.
