Question on how to achieve best "glow", and another on Paint Sealant

First off, whats up everyone, I am a new member and Look to the knowledge of this site to maintain my personal vehicle.

I just purchased a 2007 Dodge Charger Daytona in the Sublime green color. The paint is a metallic, but not an obvious metallic like others. Im looking for suggestions on the best product to bring the yellowish metallics in the paint to life and "glow", like it does at night under gas station lights. Ironically, the only thing that has done that for me so far is the "tripple foam" offered at those do it yourself pressure hose washes, and I have tried alot of spray detailers, waxes, and polishes.

Also, any newer suggestions on Paint Sealants? I tried doing a search but most the stuff I was digging up was from 2004. Just wondering if any new products came out or anything that work good

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Autopia!

I've heard a lot of reviews of success with Zaino Z2 on light colors with metallics.

I've like Jeff Werkstatt Acrylic Jett: trigger also.

Do you just want a sealant? Or would you be willing to buy a carnauba wax?

Good Luck!

Glazes atop a nice polymer would be nice.......Keep in mind, glazes are for looks and offer very short lived protection. (Hence the polymer below it) Let the Polymer set a good day or two though before using a glaze for showboating that beast! And part of your newbie orientation is to share pics!

A lot of paint sealants work very well nowadays. Most can mimick the wet glow of a carnauba while providing durability as well. Optiseal, Zaino, Ultima, Duragloss are all different types of paint sealants that are great to use.

'Here is a picture of the car Im reffering to. It has very fine yellow metallics in it that when under a Parking lot bright white light at night, makes the car glow like a lemon pearl is mixed within the green.\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\nHere is the same color car with the more \"yellow/green\" depth im trying to achieve\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\nI see as far as sealants / glazes / and waxes go, there are differnent ones to use based on the color of the car........suggestions on a good start to finish clean for this color to achieve the glow like the second pic???? :)'

What about this duragloss 601 followed by 105 sealant I keep reading about, will that bring the yellowish metallics out on a lime green car? Also, I keep reading about people that use the above mentioned combo using "AW" after, what it AW?

Also, is their a certain online store you guys use to purchase all these products from like zaino, nattys blue wax, etc, since they are not OTC?

I tried to post pix but I got some wierd message and my post dissapeared in here

AW=Duragloss Aquawax.

People purchase from a number of online vendors - autogeek.net, pakshak.com, exceldetail.com, danase.com, zainostore.com, etc.

Also, I think you need 5 or 10 posts to be able to post pics here.

ahh ok, thats why It wouldnt let me post pix.....darn, i have a pic of my car, and my exact same color car with the finish im looking to achieve I wanted to post b/c words dont do it as good as visuals!

Right now I clean the car at a regular "do it yourself" car wash with a high pressure wand, tripple foam, etc

Then I come home and use Mcguires h20 detail spray, followed by a layer of Simoniz electric trigger polish

Will Klasse "All in one" cleaner followed by the Klasse sealant give me better results then what I do now?

If you want the absolute *best* glow, you need to machine polish. KAIO is nice, the sealant isn't really popular these days because many feel there are easier and better looking sealants out there.

My suggestion would be Men. PO85RD polish, Red Moose Glaze X 2, Then Pin. Souveran X 2, 24 hours between PS coats. Then if you want a extra boost for a few days, Meg. pure polish like #5, 7, or 81. JMHO

Welcome... good luck with the car. I've seen the Daytona in that color and it looks great! Not really a sealant, but something tells me Collinite 845 would look great on that color. Otherwise, all the other product suggestions listed here would look nice, too.

Welcome, Chargeron24's! 24's must look SICK on that new charger of yours. Great choice! I'm not sure if you're working by hand or machine......or even both, so I'll base my "perscription" for you on the assumption you're working by hand. I recommend using Klasse All in One ( or JW Prime/ Prime Strong ) as a base. 1 layer is all you need. Apply a thin layer and remove. Follow that up with 1 layer of Chemical Guy's EZ Creme Glaze. It's acrylic based & works very well with the KAIO, and doesn't contain any oils that will mute or "soften" the look of your paint flake. In fact, the EZ Creme Glaze will "pump up the volume" on that flake of yours, and really bring your Sublime paint color to life. Once again, apply thin and remove. Now you're ready for a layer or 2 of JW Acrylic Jett Trigger. Bam, just like that........You're done! Stand back and enjoy!

Perscription #2 would be KAIO or JW Prime/Prime Strong as a base. Followed by Zaino Z2Pro. Top that off with Zaino Z8. "BLING"!!!

Those 2 recommendations should give you what you're looking for, in terms of flake "pop" and "glow". If it's depth and wetness you're looking for, glaze with RMG, followed by a layer or 2 of Souveran. ( Natty's Blue, CG 5050, Trade Secret, P21S, CMW would also make great choices instead of Souveran. )

Thanks for the suggestions!

Blktaco05, I dont have rims on the car yet, thats just my alias on every other message board lol

What if im looking for glow, depth, and wetness at the same time! Or is that asking too much? lol

Achieving glow, depth, and wetness is never too much to ask. It's what we're all looking for, lol. That quest feeds the adiction of every "Autopian". Hang on and enjoy the ride, my friend.

I saw your other post with the pics of the Charger basking in all it's "Sublime" glory. It's kinda funny. There's a guy down here who drives that same car/color, and he never takes care of it. It looks like it's never washed/waxed. (West Texas is famous for dust/bugs and their ability to "hug" the paint of our rides, lol) The color on that car just didn't do it for me until I saw what that color really looks like in your posted pic, when properly taken care of. Suddenly my mouth began to water.......

Most people will tell you 'round these parts that depth & wetness comes from a good and thorough prep. (washing, claying and polishing) A good prep is vital to your paints overall appearance. (When polishing by machine, I recommend Optimum & Menzerna polishes, by the way.) After prepping, you can augment the look of your paints color by choosing different glazes, carnauba waxes, and/or sealants. Glazing is optional. Some do. Some don't. My first 2 recommendations in my previous post will do the trick for you. But having seen the "Sublime" color in all it's glory, I'm gonna give you another option. In my humble opinion........THAT CAR/COLOR IS SCREAMING FOR A GLAZE/CARNAUBA COMBO! lol. Keep in mind that liquid carnauba waxes will provide a different look from paste carnauba waxes. Spray carnauba waxes will also give a different look from the previous 2 as well. For instance........Liquid Souveran will give your color a "brighter" look than the deep, rich, wet look of Souveran paste. The same principle applies to Meg's #26 liquid & Meg's #26 paste. (just to name a few) As for spray carnauba's, Optimum Spray Wax looks different than JW Carnauba Jett. Both produce a nice "gloss", but JW Carnauba Jett gives you some added depth. (color appears deeper) The same can be said for Quick Detailing sprays. (a staple in every Autopians detailing arsenal, btw) Clearkote Quickshine seems to darken my paint a bit, where FK #425 adds more gloss.

With all that being said, try glazing with Clearkote RMG and following that up with Natty's Blue. (Souveran is still my first choice for paste wax appearance, but shelling out top dollar for a paste wax can sting a little)

As for glaze choices.......... Clearkote RMG and or Clearkote Vanilla Moose (or mix them together 50/50 to create "pink Moose") and Menzerna Final Touch Glaze would make great choices for ya. Go with the Clearkote products for super easy application/removal.

So many products, so little time! lol
