Question about Zaino

Hey everyone, I got done Zaino(ing) my car twice, the problem is that I used Z5 with Zfx, and I have enough for another coat but I want to go to bed.

If I put the bottle in the fridge, will it be safe to use in the morning? I know Sal doesn't endorse this but I heard someone else did this and it was fine.

Thanks a bunch,

Adam

I don't know if that would be safe with Zfx, since it dries in about 30 minutes. I just hate to waste the Z5 with Zfx (so expensive), and I'm getting tired and very sore and just feel like relaxing the rest of the night lol.

I'm almost positive that there's no harm in letting it dry out longer than it needs to even with zfx.. If anything it might make it easier to remove? i mean, what's the difference between a 30 minute dry versus a 2 hour dry versus an overnight dry?

Adam, I've put Z-2/ZFX and Z-5/ZFX in the refrigerator overnight with no apparent problems. I've also waited as much a two days before buffing with no problems - caution - in two days there might be enough dust on the surface to cause marring when buffing.

Smoker, my pet pieve is when I use carnuba wax, drive my car for a week, wash it and then I have to wax it again, atleast that has been my experience with Zymol. The Zymol cleaner was AWSOME for a Black car, it hid swirls great, but they came back in a week or so. I could use an abrasive swirl remover but I don't like the idea of sanding my clearcoat. Filling them is more apealing to me :) After using two coats of Z5, I'd say my swirls are 65% better, hopefully with a couple more coats (in the morning lol) they will be almost gone, and stay gone for a long time.

raymond_ho2002, your probably right about it being ok, I guess I'm just being a little cautious with Zaino since I have been a "carnuba guy" all my life, and got my first Poly sealant two weeks ago.

Nick T., thanks for the help, I've learned soo much from this message board even though I recently joined. :D

Oh yeah, I was wondering, after all the grueling Zaino steps, several coats of Z5 until satisfaction with swirls, and 5 coats of Z2, will my black car take on the glossy "plastic" look like this car on the Zaino website? I love that shine;)

Zaino will give you a hard, highly reflective finish, but it takes many coats of Z-5 to hide even minor marring! If anything, Zaino’s clarity and reflectivity will call attention to your paint defects. In my experience surface preparation is more important when using Zaino than any other wax or sealant that I’ve tried. If you’re not willing to put a lot of work into swirl removal, you might be happier with a more forgiving synthetic such as Platinum. A poorly prepped black or red car can look terrible in direct sun, even with several layers of Z-5.

That's one of the things I didnt like about zaino.. That every new layer I put on means that I have another layer gone to waste when I want to use SMR. For me at least, small scratches and swirl will gradually accumulate.. And it breaks my heart to think that all those layers of zaino will have to be undone for me to fix it. One nice thing about carnaubas is that its pretty easy to spot fix.. With zaino i'd have to dawn wash that spot and start over with z1 and z5.
