i'm looking for thick, quality black rubber floor mats for my jetta. does anyone have suggestions?

it's less about show, and more about winter protection.

any suggestions and sources would be greatly appreciated.

www.weathertech.com

A set is in the MB ML320 I detail, nothing more then a quick vacumm, dressing of interior, and shaking out and vac of the weather techs and its golden.

Also claims to hold 1L of water... I think.

I like the ones at wallmart

you can kinda see them, they hold a few cup or 2 of water without spilling, works well and they're oversized.

Here are my favorites:
1) Husky Floor Liners

These are great for catching all of the slop. Whereas other floor mats are flat, these are custom made for each car/truck and follow the contours of your car's floor about 3" up the center hump. They also have a ridge down the door side so nothing leaks out. They arent all that thick and don't have ridges, but then again they don't need them. If you get Huskys, be sure you get the FLOOR LINERS, and NOT the mats (they make both and the mats are flat). I'm just changing over to Huskys this weekend.
Here's a pic of mine: http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~dneece/husky.jpg

2) Catch-All Carpeted Floor Mats

I have these in my truck right now, and they are comparable to the Huskys, only these are lined with carpet (they follow the contour of the floor like the Huskys). They are custom made for each individual car style. I've had a set in for about 3 months now and there is no wear or pilling on the carpet. They would do great in winter if you don't mind the carpet getting yucked up.

The Catch-All mat looks a little pilled, but that's because I just washed it. The fabric is holding up really well.

Cabelas online sells both of these, but you may want to check them out locally at a custom truck shop. I'm sure they could order them for your car, an you could see what they look like before you buy.

Here is the link to Cabelas (it's the cheapest online source I've found for the Catch-Alls) click on the Automotive/ATV store link at the left, then choose Floor Mats/Cargo protection:

BTW, the Catch-Alls are called "Custom Carpet Floor Mats" on this page. They also have several other brands (Including Weather Tech).

Dave, the Husky floorliners look nice. I especially like the flat that they seem to be molded, to a point, to the make and model of your car. I'm kind of glad there isn't a direct link that indicates where to find them. I don't want to spend money on "unneeded" items. Good pic. Laters.

Dave,

Do the Husky liners move around or do they stay in place when you get in and out. They look like they would slide around as opposed to a heavy rubber mat but I like the idea of holding lots of water and mud. What do you think?

You might want to look into the VW rubber floor mats. If they're anything like the Audi rubber floor mats I had in my S4, they are high-quality and custom fitted for the contour of your floor. Otherwise I'd suggest the WeatherTech mats. While not a custom fit, they are heavy duty and can be trimmed for a decent fit. I had a set in my old Audi A4 and have a new set in my STi.

the same types I have in my Dakota 4x4. dont see the point of spending a bunch of money on rubber mats. when wally world mats does just as good.

Doing a bunch of vehicles, the WeatherTech ones are the only ones that hold up well in customers vehicles.

I degrease and re-dress and them and then they look as new.

I use the Husky Xtreme Catch Alls in my Super Duty. I have to park in a gravel lot at work and when its wet, the stuff is pretty sloppy. These mats are made for each car/ truck and cover all the way to the door sill. These things are great...first weekend I had my truck , these got ordered.

Are quick detailers ok to use when your car is a little dirty? Many times after I get my car washed, I get water streaks all over from trapped water that comes out once I drive. My question is, can I wipe these water spots when I get home? There's usually dust too and I'm not sure if that's ok.

Do you have a California duster. if not get one,if you do, use that but very lightly across the surface and then use a quick detailer.Don't scimp on the amount you use.Do one section at a time. Don't use pressure while wiping.Wipe lightly so you don't scratch the surface of the paint, flip the towel and buff to a shine. One question did you say you go to a carwash:scared:
