Question about Layoring Zaino?

Hey everyone, I hate to ask so many dumb questions about sealants, I'm a newbie at it still:)

I know I can only put on 3 coats of Zaino per day, but in total how many coats can I put on over a couple days? Do I have to stop at 5 coats of Z2 and 5 coats of Z5, or over several days, using Zfx can I put on more than 5 coats of Z5 and Z2?

I was thinking of like 5+ coats of Z5 with Zfx, every coat my swirls lessen.

Thanks a bunch,

Adam

Welcome. :wavey

Well, I'm not a Zaino user, so I can't say anything about a point of diminishing returns or anything like that. But, I do know of people on here that have 70+ layers of Zaino on their cars; that is, if you really wanted to, you could layer ad infinitum. The only thing, I think, is that you're supposed to use Z1 every ten coats or so.

Zaino users, check this, make sure I got it right! :xyxthumbs

I personally have 3 coats on my car. I prefer to wait over night in between coats. I've met people with as many as 20 layers of Z on their cars. To be honest though, I don't notice a difference after about 3 coats. I see maybe a 2% increase between 3 and 5 coats, and after that, I don't notice any.

This is only my opinion, but I look at it this way: You're looking for the perfect mix of products to produce an optimum look. It's like making the perfect cup of coffee. Clearly, 3 spoonfulls of sugar is sweeter than 1, but is 35 any sweeter than 20? After a while, the word OVERKILL comes up. Yes, you can do 3 coats a day everyday for the rest of your life, but I wouldn't advise it.

My best advice, give it three coats, and make sure to Z6 in between each coat :) If you're still looking for a deeper wet look, consider a carnauba topper (S100)

If there isn't any big difference between 3 and 5 coats visually, and none at all after 5 coats, then would there also be no difference in how long the shine will last?

Well I'm really not going for a deep look, I really like the mirror look on a black car. With 5 coats of Z5 on my car, I literally see colors from reflections more than I see black on the car. Zaino is really amazing as far as that goes, probably like any other sealant. I can't wait to put 5 coats of Z2 on it over the next two days.:shocked

Personally, I'd stick with Z5 on a black car. On a black car I did 6 X Z5 and ZFX, then did 3 X Z2 and ZFX and didn't like it after Z2. It was just too much - it didn't even look black anymore. Like you say about reflections - it looked like cloudy blue sky - not a black car.

On my car - I have had up to 20 layers of Z2 on it, I think 8-10 is about where you absolutely can't see any difference. It gets REAL TOUGH to see any difference after 5 or so, but there is a significant difference through 5. I haven't noticed much change in durability between 3 and 20 coats.:wavey

How many car washes can your car get before you need to apply more Z2? I can't stand having to wax my car (carnuba) every two to three weeks:mad:

All depends on your driving and weather conditions. IMO wash weekly until the beading starts to diminish.
I agree - I went from October to March without adding any Z2. It sits outside 24/7, but doesn't get driven much at all - it held up pretty well - I'd say 75% of what it was in Oct. I washed as often as I could all winter - every 2-2.5 weeks on average. Z6 really helps keep up the shine.
